Again marvel's xmen has sucked since 1996.
Plus, real talk apocalyspe sucks as a villain and all the big crossover xmen villains have sucked since the first inferno as well.
To the point apocalypse is supposed to be a villains used as a mechanism.
to allow Scott and jean to be together again.
on some only white people that matter bullshyt which is how xmen started to suck to begin with.
When they downgraded all the xmen to take a backseat to the great white hope in jean and Scott.
When Scott was never adept past blasting sinister to actually lead anyway and why storm beat him without powers.
So, the whole make storm the background.
when xmen was better with storm as the lead as a mag never sat well with me or the original readership guard for xmen back then.
When they just wrote out Nathan summers and could have made a very interesting addition to reed Richards kid and dofp 2 with Rachel.
Or even as a kid member of power pack like reed's kid was.
Or even as an xterminator with rusty, boom boom, skids, rictor and the morlocks.
Instead we got a regurgitated storyline.
after marvel lost its way and demeaned the second wave of creator's to make them all form together and bolt marvel.
Which is what started marvel's descent quality wise including the loss of jim shooter as well later on all together.
Coupled with Claremont being phased out and then out of touch coming back.
As the entire feel.of what xmen was quality read wise was lost
Apocalypse was a villain that should have been left out of things all together after ship's explosion.
Or at least in the whole askani thing,...
All the x books suffered once whilce, rob and jim left real talk.
The whole apocalypse is this big scary thing is more marvel.
using apocalypse to mirror kirby's darkseid as a villain but as a mutant and personally it always sucked.
Most shyt lifted off dc villain wise sucks
Which imo was because marvel started using garbage vertigo dc style writers.
instead of marvel bright in guys who understood the product and reader.
Instead we got indie-rific wack non-domestic comic book artist with unrealistic art styles and bullshyt and it destroyed what xmen is.

Imagine if MCU had Black Widow leading the Avengers and had Captain America like Fox is doing Cyclops, not to bash her character cus Scarlett has done an awesome job, but come on now
The problem with the fox xmen is they keep making characters with gateway crowd appeal into a draw.
When those are the lest interesting characters and then downplaying the lead character and best strategic commander in storm.
For a basic class rogue villain and the berserker.
When storm is who the xmen was about.
for most of the general run of the book after the relaunch.
So, we don't get any of that.
Nor do we get any of the Scott jean over processing.
Plus, we never went to outer space to show lilandra or the star jammers.
Which would have been a better explanation for the tech in xmen the movie.
Fox is just a piece of shyt company and they got this property.
All, because marvel lost their way and had to sell to the highest bidder as well.
So, this is all because marvel lost their way and we are all gonna pay for it till the end of time.
So get ready for shytty xmen films till the end.

'sposed to represent discrimination, racism, those who look different etc etc but yet the 'handsome' good ol caucasian boy cyclops is the leader, successor and savior of mutant-kind. His 'beautiful' flawless redhead caucasian wife is the most powerful of them all... and as soon as she dies, this other 'physically flawless' blonde version of her (essentially, but with more of an 'edge') hopscotches right over someone like Storm to be the premier first lady of the x-men.
It took Jean dying, Xavier dying, Wolverine dying, Cyclops dying/MIA for them to actually now have Storm as head honcho of the x-books... and even then they lowkey just focus on past-transplanted young Jean Grey and future-transplanted old-man Logan as the main features of the book.
So i actually always found it funny how so in love marvel's x-men editorial was with pushing cyclops and how conversely fox never gave a fukk about him other than to play the role of the boyfriend whose girl was gon get snatched by Hugh Jackman

This is also why the movies suck and why after jim lee and whilce left that xmen books sucked.
All because the minority mix of the xmen is what made it interesting.
When Claremont and the creator's left it became a good ole boi mag and again we hd to deal with the overprocessing of jean and Scot of which Claremont wrote out.
Yet here we are back again in the same old good ole boi space we were in when xfactor reappeared and used to suck before inferno.
To sucking again till the creators in lee and the like found a better way to consolidate the characters then bolted.
The apparent good ole boi racist direction of xmen since has made unbearable as a read.

To be fair though, Scott was actually a legit leader in the Phoenix years (1976-83ish). He singlehandedly rescued the entire team from certain death at the hands of magneto, successfully got everyone to work as a team and fight magneto to a stalemate, singlehandedly held off Wolverine, Nightcrawler, and Storm in order to show them they could still fight (after they all got beaten by Proteus), and turned the tables on the Hellfire club in the Dark Phoenix storyline. Plus he singlehandedly sonned the whole team and exposed Mastermind when he tried to get revenge.
The character got neutered when the top brass decided to resurrect Jean and have Cyke leave his family to go join up with X-factor. By the time Claremont found out, it was too late to step in and veto or change anything so he was forced to make Scott a jobber for the sake of having another book on the stands the company could market. Initially he was planning to let Scott move on, leave the X-men and be a regular dude with a family. IMO Jean should have stayed dead after the Dark Phoenix storyline.
Other than that, I get where you're coming from. The best characters aside from Scott, Xavier, Jean, and Hank were the international crew. It was dope because they were rolling deep with X-men from all around the world. But the studios only want to market the movies and treat them like vehicles for A-list actors.

This is my issue with the films, I will give marvel a hand for taking fringe actors and making them into heroes as opposed to taking stars and putting them in the movie. The characteristics, personalities, looks, power, and stories of each xman is so rich, you don't need that clashing with the stardom of a fassbender (tho he's amazing) halle berry, etc. Like cast some unknowns and let them get lost in the role
After saying that, I am feeling the folks who'd rather make xmen a tv series as opposed to feature films, that way there is more time to highlight the leaders and build out better arcs.

Netflix Budget with a hard sci-fi spin, space travel, mutant powers, the shia'r, starjammers, war of kings arc, the xmen stories are endless... but hopefully marvel gets the rights back for even this to happen...
