World politics really is gangsterism. Countries that don't have nukes or a strong military have to accept "protection" from a more powerful state or else they'll become food. And they have to pay for that protection (wealth, minerals, resources).

Thinking of countries in recent years that got invaded: Iraq, Afghanistan, and Libya (a civil war supported by the West) it was because they didn't have protection from a super state (US, Russia, China).

But I've never seen this kind of thuggery displayed so openly between two world leaders. This must be an alternate timeline.
