Would they be ok with present sanctions if they had an understanding of the costs, later.

I paid 5.80 something this morning for gas and I'm not ok with the extent to which the US is sanctioning if it means this trend will continue raising prices.
Yes, probably.

Your other choice is to let Russia run free and lose the trust of entire Western world. Not a difficult choice.

It's crazy that the government is spurring this narrative that Russia would or could ever make even the slightest difference in the total availability of crude oil the US uses.

Our import of crude oil from Russia only accounts for 1% of our total crude oil use.

1%.

This is an opportunity (another one) for oil companies to price gouge their hostages while they can before the entire market moves onto better methods of energy production.

How much oil does the US import from Russia?

Major producers like Russia influence the global price which is what traders and refiners purchase oil at. Traders and retailers ultimately pass on the price hike to consumers. So it has an effect everywhere, even in countries that arent major importers of Russian oil.

Oil majors arent making their money from petrol sales. Could be argued that oil producing countries with excess capacity have an incentive to continue supply cuts for both economic and political reasons. But in the long run, it can be a risky bet, as periods of excessively high prices can incentivize greater investment in alternative sources including nuclear.

Ultimately, consumers will bite the bullet no matter what, if state of affairs remains the same politically.

How is this MAGA? OP lives in LA, where he's likely paying $5-$6/gallon. Dude has a family, those prices might hurt him.

Because he's not being intellectually honest about why gas prices are high (crude oil prices) and just wants an excuse to bash Democrats. Typical bad faith MAGA posting.

If the us wants to continue this proxy war they need to make Me not feel it, by subsidizing gas. They can fight with the gas companies and get better results then the people can

this thread isnt bashing democrats at all, but everyone in here is defensive as fukk :laff:

and the answer is yes. they should have dropped the federal gas tax yesterday. other than that, i dont really know what a direct gas subsidy would look like, but they need to fukkin do something. theres a difference between gas going up and these outrageous, recovery-killing prices. i cant even imagine being a commuter right now

and no, the answer to this short term crisis is not ANYTHING about electric vehicles :comeon:

I live in the sunshine state. The city of the beautiful people. A county with 10 million people in it. Walking is not an option. This isn't the sardine can lifestyle.

Jim Crow Joe needs to pay whoever he's got to pay and keep those prices from pissing us off

You want to call "Jim Crow Joe" Daddy?

It's time to pause and re-evaluate your situation... that just isn't going to do and you know it.

You don't hear me saying "save me Joe" now do you?
