Without that injury, he's in easily.

I would have no issue with him getting in despite injuries robbing him of a longer career. He was dominant before it. Was :to: before :to:

Agreed.

I value prime and peak more than longevity, especially if the players with longevity were not "dominant".

He won't get in. Offense friendly rules guarantee that good WRs will eclipse Sharpe's numbers. The same war that good receivers in my era had better stats than elite 70s receivers.

I don't know if I disagree with you, but what you said is likely accurate. He's going to have an even tougher time getting in with the numbers players are putting up now.

Calvin Johnson had a very similar career, and people try to argue he's the GOAT.:sas2:.

but that's why context matters. and you have to judge eras by eras, not cross eras IMO.

I think so.

His career ended at 29 but that's kind of the year when most players would enter their downslope anyway. It's very likely we saw the best years of Sharpe's career and he was great.
I don't think you have to play the "What If" game with Sterling Sharpe.

He has just as much of an argument as Calvin Johnson but the fact that he hasn't played in nearly 30 years and with cats like Reggie Wayne Torry **** Anquan Boldin Chad Johnson etc. with better numbers and still not in his chance's aren't good at this point.

I hear you but Sterling Sharpe was arguably the best at his position in his prime. Keep in mind he was in the league with Jerry.

Sterling Sharpe and Jimmy Smith should be in

We're on the same page again with our HOF takes.

Sterling Sharpe should get in before Frank Gore. One was actually an elite player, worthy of the HOF.

I think he can get in if he’s viewed only amongst his peers and not compared to WRs and RBs. But they don’t vote them in by position so it’s a less than 50% chance.

He was the Calvin Johnson of his time. Very short prime but elite. If he could have had a couple of more healthy years yes. But as it stands not quite.
