if he won a sb with favre he would be
he should be regardless
its a shame

He should be.

If you're a THREE TIME first-team all-pro, you should be in. Peak and prime should be much bigger factors than longevity when it comes to the HOF. Also led the league in receptions three times and TD's twice. That happened during the prime of Jerry Rice's career.

It's absolutely criminal he's not in.

when he retired after the 94 season, he had four 90 catch 10 td seasons including 3 in a row to end his career. the most anybody else had at that time was jerry rice with 3 and he equaled that mark the next year and retired with 4. since those two retired 3 others have tied them with 4, and the only wr to surpass them is [redacted] with 6 seasons. so when he retired he had the most such seasons in nfl history and what 28 years later hes still tied for 2nd.

a bit of an espn stat, but these are the benchmarks he set and despite how passing offenses have evolved his numbers still hold up showing he should be a no doubt hall of famer.

unfortunately i think some gloss over the all pros or say the career numbers arent enough but when you put his peak into historical context and point out when he retired he had done something that hadnt been done before they can be swayed. i say that as an old head who watched him play and resigned myself at the time of his retirement he would never get in and agreed with that line of thinking. sterling led the nfl in receptions 3 times, i didnt even realize til looking it up just now that since 1970 noone else has led it more than twice.

He went toe to toe with Jerry Rice with a worse QB and had better stats multiple years. Of course he deserves it.
Sterling wasn't very media friendly during his time and didn't have any rings. Those are the reasons he won't ever make the Hall.

Plus "they" want that Brothers in the Hall together thing to go to the Mannings.

The selection committee is just as biased as the owners when it comes to who gets in and who doesn't. If you aren't Mount Rushmore and ain't media friendly expect to wait longer than you should.

Shannon gave him the ultimate endorsement when he was inducted into the Hall.

He should absolutely be in. I don't care that his career was short, his peak and prime were elite. I value peak and prime for a HOF player more than longevity. The HOF is for the most elite, and he's among that group.
