Baseball was the main reason Penny n Shaq got past MJ in 1995. We saw what happened in 1996 when Mike was back fully. Broomstick

To be fair that Magic team racked up injuries immedatley start of that 96 series (Horace, Shaw, Anderson and as people found out later the injury that started Penny's downfall the misdiagnosed torn meniscus he was playing on was 2 rounds ealier so he straining) but yeah Chicago probably beats them still but its not a damn sweep/total domination like how it turned out.
And I think even if Mike doesnt retire, that Bulls was running on fumes from 3 straight finals 91-93 (and conference finals since 87) and had to change their supporting cast so in that interim before Rodman and no Horace and changing BJ etc he probably still loses in 94 and 95 while retooling the supporting cast

So it probably would have been the same result both years

I also think there has to be consideration of era/offense Penny and Shaq played in vs. the Triangle.

Penny was a pass first guy in a era that dictated offenses had to be anchored down with bigs. As long as he played with Shaq, He wasnt in a position to develop that scorers mentality. Whereas the triangle offense allows a little bit more deviation from going to Shaq and in turn, let Kobe be Kobe.

Add that to the fact that triangle forces players to pass and think like PG's, Kobe was able to develop his playmaking too.

Just saying, a lot of how you develop as a player is based on your landing spot.

Yall love this lie. Orlando were simply a better team. Bulls couldn't stop em, and got dominated on the boards.

What happened is that the Bulls got Harper and Rodman. And Nick Anderson turned into a Mental case after that 4 free them misses.

Why do y'all lie so openly and think it should mean anything?

The difference between 1995 and 1996 was the Bulls adding Rodman and the Magic having five major injuries. MJ looked the exact same both years

Horace Grant in 1995: 18-11-2 on 65% shooting
Horace Grant in 1996: Rodman holds him to 0 points and 1 rebound before he's knocked out for the series just 28 minutes into Game 1. Rodman put up 13 points and 21 rebounds in the game while utterly dominating Grant.

Brian Shaw got knocked out in Game 2, Nick Anderson got knocked out in Game 3, Jon Koncak (Grant's replacement) played injured all series, and Penny was playing hurt too. Plus Nick Anderson had a permanent case of the yips after that choke-job in the 1995 Finals (shot just 31% FG, 20% 3pt, and 36% FT for the series).

Meanwhile, what was the vast improvement in MJ that you claim decided the series?

MJ against Orlando in 1995: 31-7-4 on 48% shooting
MJ against Orlando in 1996: 30-6-5 on 52% shooting

Y'all just LIE every day on here. :mjlol:

Y'all love quoting Shaq because he says stupid shyt on a daily basis just to get attention.

MJ in the 1st round in 1995 averaged 32-7-6 on 50% shooting.
MJ in the 2nd round in 1995 averaged 31-7-4 on 48% shooting.

He didn't have back-to-back series that good again for the entire rest of his playing career. They lost in 1995 because they had no rebounding or interior defense after losing Horace Grant. Same reason they had been struggling a bit in the regular season after winning 55 games the previous year. Once they picked up Rodman in the summer, they were fine. That's why Phil and MJ were willing to take the flier on a head case.

If we're supposed to believe you, the Bulls didn't need to risk fukking up team chemistry with Rodman because they already had the title in the bag once MJ got a full season in.
