You can’t give endless amount of props without shytting on people on the low, unfortunately.

Either you’re calling Penny a top 10, or Kobe a 50-60

Well Shaq did play the game so his opinion carries more weight, right?

But in all seriousness. Penny didn't have the 3rd gear offensively Kobe had and this coming from a non Kobe stan.

I think Penny had more talent and physicals gifts though but Kobes incessant drive and mentality propelled him to places beyond his body.

I don't agree with either of these. Kobe's talent and physical gifts are the exact reason why he was able to come out of HS as a perimeter player. Unheard of at the time.

If you said this about T-Mac, I'd partially agree with you. I don't think Penny was on the level of either.

But what do I know.

So. Cal
1a Jordan
1b Kobe

Kobe >> Penny

Saying Penny is as talented as Kobe is like the same retarded NFL hot take saying of how one QB has the same arm talent as another QB when the latter QB is clearky better and more successful. At the end of the day, Kobe was clearly more talented and the better player. fukk the what ifs

KG came in the league from high school and was slotted as a small forward a year before.
KG was still 7 feet tall. It was much easier for GM's to be comfortable with his potential than a 6'6" guard.

Regardless, the point is the Kobe's talent and physical gifts were off the charts even at 18. Penny wasn't on that level.

How is this a fukking argument? Penny was fukking 22 years old. Kobe was 18 out of HS. Penny is not in the same realm as Kobe fukking Bryant

Penny age 25 first year without Shaq showed he wasn’t going to get much better than he was

Because it's Kobe Bryant. He's miraculously the one player in the top ten of all time basketball talent that somehow most players outside of the top 50 had just as much talent as.

Ain’t no Stan shyt. Penny had 4 seasons to show us. He was 25 and healthy when Shaq bounced. He was never gonna take his game as far as Kobe. He didn’t have it
FALSE.
Beginning of the 95-96 season Shaq was out for the first quarter of the season, and Penny had the Magic at 17-5 averaging 27/6/6

Then the next season when Shaq was gone completely he battled injuries the whole year and missed more than 20 games. But he still came back strong in the playoffs and dropped back to back 40 point games against the #2 seed Heat.

He CLEARLY had it

aint no false shyt. He wasn’t going to get anywhere near Kobe. All players play through injury. He didn’t blow out his knee. Playing through injuries is what separate greats from the rest

But he DID play through injuries :dahell:
And he DID blow out his knee several times and couldn't play through it:dahell:

Kobe played through injuries, and he also sat out when the injuries were too great....so that statement doesn't even make sense

It's a paradox I still haven't been able to solve.

Think about it. From his era I've heard:

Iverson
Carter
McGrady
Wade
Allen
Hardaway
Ginobili(yes, people were legitimately calling him as good as Kobe in the mid 2000's)
Roy
Melo
Pierce
Hill

How are all these players as a good as Kobe but not as good as Kobe? :jbhmm:

The truth is, they weren't.
