I don’t think Michael Smith wants to deal with Skip’s fukkery and disrespect. He always struck me as someone who would be “above” that sort of format like Bomani.

Not too.mention, they got a pretty shytty schedule. Michael prolly got a family, he would have to wake up at 4am, and would have come to work on holidays. Only person who would do that is money hungry.

Club Shay Shay is very well received.
It is, but it's a different leading a sports show where content will largely be driven by the same tired topics that posters keep complaining about. Posters weren't even watching Undisputed like that as evidence by how the show was constantly getting washed in the ratings by First Take and those Youtube clips didn't translate into actual viewership. You can partly blame Skip for that, but Shannon deserves blame along with him as co-host.

I mean FS1 vs ESPN as TV stations are just never gonna be a comparison in terms of actual TV ratings. It's silly to really compare them 2 just based of ratings

People don’t watch FS1 like ESPN. They were never going to catch up. Shannon is a much bigger star now that he’s been on FS1 - who is to say he’s even going to operate that sort of sports show going forward?

That's disingenuous because we're not talking about millions of viewers for those morning shows and both SAS and Skip were literally hyping up the ratings competition between the two shows when he first went to FS1.

Let's not have revisionist history about the move as there is a reason why they come on at the same time.

If ppl have a problem with the content and the topics, the buck stops at Skip. He controls all the topics that the show covers. Also, the fact that Shannon was able to go viral off of clips from the show, tells you how he was able to transcend the Lebron/Cowboys topic to get shine anyway. Club Shay Shay taking off the way it did tells you ppl(fans) have an appetite for Shannon away from Skip. It also tells you celebs fukk with Shannon heavy as well.

I do find it hilarious that people that people are hyping up Shannon like that when people weren't really checking for his content like that outside of Youtube clips.
So it seems you have walked this statement back and strictly talking sports related? Like someone said above, Comparing Espn to FS1 isnt a good comparison. Also I guess the only way we will see if Shannon has following for sports related content is when/if he does another sports show :manny:
You are also thinking too small looking at ratings, Undisputed and these other sports shows are podcasts as well. and they do decent numbers on them too. Along with the Undipsuted youtube channel doing decent numbers with the clips they upload.

It is a good comparison because both SAS and Skip literally hyped up competition between the two shows when he first left and went to FS1. We're literally only talking about less than a million viewers in those morning talk shows, so the fact that ESPN has more coverage doesn't mean anything in the grand scheme of things.

Ratings still do matter in the grand scheme of things contrary to what Coli posters say because that's what's going to help and other sports get paid. Both SAS and Skip's podcast are flopping for the record.

Youtube numbers mean nothing in the grand scheme of things if you can't turn them into actual consumers of your product when it matters most.

I also wouldn't necessarily brag about Shannon going viral based on a lot of what he did to do it.

Shannon kept that show afloat the past two years. Skip was the one choosing to talk Cowboys,Lebron and Brady for 90% of the topics. Shannon also knows how to articulate his points in entertaining and different ways. Skip literally recites the same script depending on the subject (ie Baker Mayfield 11 game stretch or Steph collapse in 2016).

Skip recites those same scripts, yet people on this site and social media still fall for it every single time. The reason that he and SAS podcast's are flopping is because they both haven't realized that no one wants to hear them talk on their own without someone on the other side of the table. There was a reason why ESPN was still going to throw him the bag until FS1 matched.

All of Shannons antics weren't entertaining or funny, but that's a different discussion especially considering his obvious long term aspirations and why he's calmed down on doing those things.

They fact that ESPN has more coverage.............means they will reach more ppl.

Who said ratings dont matter? No one has said that. For their channel and slot and the fact they have been doing this for damn near a decade says FS1 are happy with the ratings for these shows. I would think they are better judges of the ratings than w/e way you trying to frame it :manny:

You misunderstand me. Im not talking about their own personal podcasts. Undisputed and First take and all these other sports shows have their own podcasts feeds, that do well. I have never watched one minute of their show on a channel, but listen to their episode releases almost daily thru podcasts.

Youtube numbers mean nothing in the grand scheme of things if you can't turn them into actual consumers of your product when it matters most.
nikkas make bank off youtube numbers. so what are you talking about? Also they(FS1) not trying to turn Youtube ppl into channel watchers. If someone is watching on youtube, they more than likely dont even have traditional cables. This is why they load up clips and the full audio of undisputed on the channel.

Pat McAfee just had ESPN buy his whole network because of youtube numbers.......so how do you come to the conclusion that youtube means nothing in the grand scheme? Even in that deal Pat made it to wherre he keeps his youtube presence and will be on Youtube/ESPN simultaneously. Deal like that has never been done imo, so curious to see how the ratings go with that.

I never said that they weren't happy with the ratings? It still doesn't the fact that at one point and time ESPN/FS1 literally went head to head in the ratings competition with SAS and Skip both spearheading the move. Let's not have revisionist history about that move.

McAfee is also a different story as he was a draw outside of his Youtube show and had people consuming his content in other appearances like WWE and College Gameday. He was also able to personally draw in the most polarizing player in the NFL and ESPN did that deal fully expecting that he'd still get personal access to Rodgers, which would have people consuming the content on their network.

He is the exception and not the norm. A lot of his core viewers are balking at the move, so we will see if they follow along with him and actually consume the product on a different medium.
