Is this supposed to be a sequel to the Shaft movie that was put out back in '99 or '00?

I might go see this with my dad idk... I said this year I was going to cut back spending and along with it, I'm going to cut back on going to the show to see pointless movies (not saying this one is). I haven't been to the show since that Kevin Hart movie dropped and probably won't go back out until Captain Marvel starts.
