Ok... so shouldn't it be called "Shaft 2" or "Shaft Returns" or "Shaft Generatons" or "Shaft Legacy" or something like then?
I think the initial title was something similar to that. I’m sure they focused group tested it to death and they ended up just on shaft. Probably the same reason the new Star Wars movies don’t really play into the episode shyt anymore. Makes younger audiences feel like they missed something and “need to catch up” or that it’s too daunting etc etc

It makes the 2000 Shaft look like grade A cinema instead of being one of my guilty pleasures.

Hm so scouring IMDb, turns out John Singleton wanted to make a sequel to the 2000 movie way back when. But Sam wasn’t happy with the movie so that was a nah.
Singleton also wanted to do the father and son thing with Richard roudtree being a more prominent role but the studio said nah ah. So roundtree was turned into his uncle and had his role reduced in the script. So it looks like they’re able to do what he initially intended now. Funny how that works.
Singleton also wanted don cheadle first. The studio said nah ah. Wanted a bigger draw.

So They basically said fukk the previous reboot, but we are going to keep Sam Jackson.
We will then emasculate Sam Jackson's shaft
Make him a deadbeat father
Have a feminized son
THey'll probably kill Richard Roundtree off.
I wouldn't be surprised if they have Roundtree's Shaft become some type of closet homosexual.
