No the fukk it doesn’t and most of the biggest Soul players say that the feel of the game is different than souls and that if you treat it like Spuls, you’ll have s bad time. You can’t R1 spam on mini-boss enemies or anything stronger than a grunt.

Except there are multiple parry mechanics (Dodging into a blow, parrying the slash, etc) that have different uses and affect the posture of your enemy differently.

And you dunno about Dragonrot system that can impact the game greatly in regards to revivals. It’s not the same as the Souls series.
Listen I'm the first to argue with Meech.

I'm a souls vet, beat them all, platinumed bloodborne. etc. I've even beat most of the souls like spin off games.

I know this game is a much different approach and the combat and flow is much different, however. If I was locked in a room the last two years and you took me out and showed me Sekiro gameplay out of the blue with no prior information to go on, I would 100% know it was a Fromsoft game. I think that's all his point is.

I mean, I know people who thought Nioh was a From Soft game but the devil is always in the details in the same way the Surge or Lords of the Fallen night look like From Soft games but they feel differently.

The fact that you have one main weapon that has an entire skill tree dedicated to it rather than a variety of weapons Means they can add lots of complexity to the combat. Enemies can no longer be cheesed and circle strafed. Individual Fights have a lot more agency and player choice than in the Soulsborne series.

Hey I'm looking forward to the game Im a Miyazaki stan practically :hubie:I know it will be good, nuanced, and different from the other games.

Just saying I can see the souls DNA clearly in it. Tbh anyone that played Fromsoft games before could instantly tell Nioh and Surge were not made by them.

The long winding animations, the circle strafing to the back, the sound effects, the player animations, the UI etc, is all clearly Fromsoft when I watch the gameplay.

I'm not saying you're wrong, I know it will be different. I know they are changing the formula up, and look forward to it. But I'm not gonna pretend it doesn't look like a From game.

Parry has always been in the souls games.

The grappling hook is part of the “jumping” I was talking about, as souls has always had a jump button but this game allows you more vertical mobility, but ultimately it doesn’t change much cause when you hit the ground, the fights play out pretty much the same.

Dark souls has always had resurrection options, the change here is that the enemies walk away while you’re dead.

These are small surface level changes, but the general gameplay loop remains the same

It’s clear most of you in this thread don’t have much experience with the souls games. They’ve done a good job marketing this game to new people but I’m positive the official thread will be full of y’all complaining about how “hard” it is and how “clunky” the controls are, how the graphics are shyt, etc.

How you gonna quote me and ignore half the shyt I said that makes this game different? :dahell:

The fact of that matter is some of the best known Souls players, including cats that did guides for the series like Fextralife, said "Sekiro" plays nothing like Souls.

So....yeah. I'm gonna listen to cats that actually played "Sekiro" and are publicly known for their knowledge of the Souls series.

Not to mention the story is more structured, this might be the first soul like kind of game I get into.:blessed:

:dahell: I addressed every point you made.

You thinking those things are “new” only shows your inexperience with the series.

And I wouldn’t use YouTube guys “opinion”

They literally get paid millions to say what devs/pubs want them to.

And obviously I have not played the game so maybe they are right this time, but Youtube dudes aren’t the authority on anything.

Honestly hope I’m wrong, but that’s the impression I got from watching some unedited gameplayx

Yup.

I wasn’t even really dissing the game cause I love souls, just saying I had hoped it would be a little less similar to the souls games. It’s crazy all these guys who have zero experience with the series took offense to my opinion.:beli:

As I watched the gameplay, it looks like “ninja souls” which isn’t necessarily a bad thing, just a bit disappointed based on what I thought the game was.

You always did love just arguing for nothing ...

Your copping. Your playing. You will enjoy.

Case dismissed with no chance for appeal.

No it isn’t, I have seen videos from the devs saying otherwise.
I’ve seen videos of people playing the game. There’s still minimal cutscenes. You learn the story through interactions with NPCs and item descriptions. Only difference is that there is no character creator, so they can be more specific about who your character is and how he fits in the world.
