Kinda disappointed in how similar this looks to the souls games.

Watched some gameplay and it kinda just seems like Souls with a jump button:francis:

The game play looks nothing like a Souls game.

Have you watched actual gameplay and not just the trailers?

As a person that’s put countless hours into the souls games, the general forumula is about the same. I thought it would be a huge departure from the souls games. Kinda a new genre like Souls was when it came out.

I've watched every piece of footage from this game, up to the most recent stuff.

"Souls with a jump button" is ignoring the parry system....the grappling hook....the resurrection mechanic....the skill tree....the removal of the stamina bar....your death affecting the NPCs....I mean, if you ignore literally everything new about the game then yeah, I guess it's exactly like a Souls game.

Parry has always been in the souls games.

The grappling hook is part of the “jumping” I was talking about, as souls has always had a jump button but this game allows you more vertical mobility, but ultimately it doesn’t change much cause when you hit the ground, the fights play out pretty much the same.

Dark souls has always had resurrection options, the change here is that the enemies walk away while you’re dead.

These are small surface level changes, but the general gameplay loop remains the same

It’s clear most of you in this thread don’t have much experience with the souls games. They’ve done a good job marketing this game to new people but I’m positive the official thread will be full of y’all complaining about how “hard” it is and how “clunky” the controls are, how the graphics are shyt, etc.

It's a From Software game, I don't know why you expected such a drastic change in combat. It's still different and you cannot play it like you're playing Souls or you'll get bodied quick, but the DNA is still and was always going to be there.

I feel like the main difference in this game is actually focusing on a specific protagonist and narrative for once

he's a troll. Not sure why you're even wasting your time arguing with him.

I mean, I get that, and I’m a huge souls fan so I’m in day one. But from the first couple trailers and descriptions I expected it to be very different from souls. I watched some general gameplay today and saw that it’s very familiar to souls even with the changes.

Pre-Load is live. Pre-ordered finally on PSN to get the themes and have the game installed and ready to go. Now the frustrating part of waiting begins: seeing the game on your HD but not being able to play it.

You always did love just arguing for nothing ...

Your copping. Your playing. You will enjoy.

Case dismissed with no chance for appeal.

No the fukk it doesn’t and most of the biggest Soul players say that the feel of the game is different than souls and that if you treat it like Spuls, you’ll have s bad time. You can’t R1 spam on mini-boss enemies or anything stronger than a grunt.

Except there are multiple parry mechanics (Dodging into a blow, parrying the slash, etc) that have different uses and affect the posture of your enemy differently.

And you dunno about Dragonrot system that can impact the game greatly in regards to revivals. It’s not the same as the Souls series.
