I don't like Shaq Harrison as a starter. Poor court vision, poor shooting. If he's the best option at point guard, there's going to be problems. He's an energy guy off the bench.

Suns need to make a trade for Patrick Beverly. Let Okobo be the backup and learn from Pat.

Hopefully by next season Okobo will be the starter. Even better if he can learn quickly this season and be the starter.

We knew McDonough was on the hot seat but who knew he would be fired right before the season started. He's made his mistakes for sure though. I wonder what set Sarver off.

Some interesting quotes in Woj's latest article.

Sources: Suns leaning toward making Jones GM

In his initial conversations around the league, Sarver has left little, if any, doubt that Jones will be leading Phoenix's basketball operations into the future, league sources said.

Nevertheless, Sarver has been known to change his mind - often without warning - on personnel matters. The most recent evidence was firing McDonough nine days shy of the Suns' opening night.

Jones fired several of McDonough's organizational allies and hires on Monday, including assistant GM Pat Connelly, Director of Scouting Courtney Witte, Director of International Scouting Emilio Kovacic, and G-League GM Louis Lehman.

Sarver has earned a long reputation for aggressively involving himself in basketball decisions, but it's become harder for coaches and front office staff to manage in the past two years after the Suns became Sarver's primary business interest.

Suns coaches became accustomed to regular beratings and demands of strategy and lineup changes, league sources said. Rival executives could sometimes hear Sarver yelling in the background on negotiation calls with the Suns' front office. Agents tell stories of private conversations occurring with Sarver without the front office's knowledge.

It seems like James Jones is just the face to make the team look player friendly. Sarver is running the show micromanaging. :snoop:

Woj and McDonough are buddies. McDonough is probably leaking stuff to Woj.

McDonough should have kept quiet if he expects to find a new GM job. He is probably going to go back to Boston for a lower position.

At least James Jones will be able to go after Rich Paul clients now. :manny:

I think McDonough's biggest weakness is connecting with players, which will be James Jones biggest strength. I've never seen so many players pissed off at a former GM in a span of 5 years. McDonough wasn't a good people person.

As far as basketball decisions are concerned, I think Sarver will be even more involved with James Jones. McDonough had years of experience as a Celtics assistant GM when he was hired. Jones is still new as GM.

I'm interested in what kind of deal they will find for a point guard. Just hope they don't give up too much.
