In the comics there was always a singular Super Skrull, who had the powers of the fantastic four.
In secret invasion, at some point the illuminati (specifically Xavier, reed, blackbolt, strange, ironman, namor) attacked and threatened the skrulls to never intrude on earth. A battle ensued and they thought the skrulls got destroyed.

Basically they captured them, experimented on their limits as heroes and advanced their science to replicate powers, and implant memories for incredible clandestine work. That happened a LONG time before civil war, pretty much when the avengers disassembled it seems.

It feels like there’s a side of this story that’s missing.
Also, Gravik is kind of a lame villain. Like I could buy his motivation as an attempt to disgrace Fury and bring down Shield(if it it hadn’t happened already) but this idea that he needs us to destroy ourselves but won’t use these high placed officials to just launch a nuke already is bad writing.

No. Only thr genetically modified ones do, called Super Skrulls. IE, if Skrull Wolverine stabbed a metal wall, he would mostly likely break his claws. Or if Skrull Hulk tried to fight Black Widow...he'd get folded because his muscles aren't natty.

Like someone said before, there is usually one Super Skrull that has all of the FF's powers but they are taking it to another level and trying to hook up the whole race. When Gravic's hand healed that was Extremus from Iron Man 3.
Side note: Why is Gravic leaving all of these dead Skrulls out in the open after he kills them. This is supposed to be a "secret" invasion.
Oh, and Fury stays getting roasted in every single convo he has. This has got to stop at some point unless they are gonna reduce him to Erkel status as the end goal.
