The Deep State
The government, business sectors and some of the population were absolutely terrified of a worker rebellion. I'm talking about a 22 year period starting from around 1900. Socialism, Anarchism and Communism was taking hold in a lot of places on the planet and America wasn't an exception. People think of McCarthyism as the pinnacle of domestic anti-Communism and anti-socialism actions but it pales in comparison to the early 1900s.

They were passing laws that made the Patriot Act look timid. People were being thrown in prisons for years simply for giving speeches. Death squads. Framing opposition leaders for crimes and murders. Total propaganda attack in newspapers everyday.

They succeed too. This is probably one of the most glossed over period and events in domestic American History.

All that changed in 1929 though.

For what it's worth, more people fared better and continue to do so under capitalism.

We're better off not having veered down that communist road.

The Marshall Plan was a success and we need to learn from that.

The more expensive these jobs get, the more incentive these companies have to automate or get rid of them.
which is a good thing :ehh:

whats the alternative? a stagnant society that keeps everyone working forever instead of shifting gradually to an automated system that requires less human effort?

And what happens to the people whose jobs get replaced? Do you think these companies will invest in automating their processes so they can give the stuff they make away?

and in that lies the logical conclusion we all must consider
a particular job should not dictate whether a man can live in society
what happens were we to have 100% automation?
this is where the trend is heading correct? ever increasing automation
why can't we see the big picture? that we need to be a more sustainable ecosystem
and that means changing the meaning of labor and in the interim, at the least, place a dignified floor to the debasement and devaluing of people through labor. In a good society, a man should feel that the only available job-which is currently the only means of participating in the society- can provide for him and his family, it is an implied part of the social contract that needn't be elucidated.

The lower animal and plant life has been doing this long time, I mean even feces and rotting carcases serve vital roles in the sustainability of their ecosystem. We are trying to invent this new thing without using the wisdom and experience of the old thing. Every cog in the machine makes it work and is worthy of maintenance.

The Bolded is so true.

Unfortunately human beings enjoy devaluing and exploiting to the point that even hardworking people cant afford basic necessities.

All so that a select few can hoard numbers('money') and have "status"
