I won't be too upset if there's a spin-off in the cut.

Told people this would happen last year....show would most likely get cancelled, would probably have a shortened final season due to it costing $5 mill an ep with virtually no return in viewership/critical acclaim....and yall thought I was crazy.

If ratings didn't increase for "Game of Thrones" that would've been cancelled too. These people don't give a fukk about telling a story, they care about making money. That goes for any network, cable paid or basic. Even moreso if the show is expensive as hell to produce.

sad to see it go but it seems like in retrospect, the show will be the backstory to the creation and gelling of organized crime in the US. and when it first came out, it was about prohibition in Atlantic City, so that makes perfect sense.

:manny:

coked up record exec show looks cool. but i wanna see some gangster shyt on TV again soon after, we ate too well off sopranos and BE for us to not have more of the ultraviolence

this definitely fukked up my night after a knicks win :(

if the show runner wanted to move on he had to be feeling this way before he wrote season 4, because it was written as if they knew they had a few more seasons in mind. might as well of killed eli then. i wonder if chalky is even gonna come back because how else you gonna get him back involved for 8 episodes? fukk man. my favorite show.

My nikka you on crack if you thought HBO was cancelling Game of Thrones. The outside revenue of GOT makes HBO a fukkload of money. The only reason BE is ending is because of Winter. He has another show in the pipeline and wants to do that. It's kind of a Milch like scenario. HBO did Can Deadwood but it had a lot to do with Milch wanting to focus on his baby John From Cincinnati. It was an expensive show but Milch trying to juggle two shows also had a lot to do with HBO giving Deadwood the boot, plus because it was so expensive. HBO now knows how to mitigate its cost on these expensive shows, as they now have a huge foreign revenue, and other revenue streams from their shows. Rome and Deadwood were business lessons for HBO. Plus HBO has figured out how to keep set costs down, and plan ahead if it is doing a big budget series. They get big deals from sound stages etc and book them ahead of time for years to get discounts etc. Like they doing with Game of Thrones. best believe HBO is gonna let Game of Thrones go all the way to its conclusion. Even if it means 10 seasons. Game of Thrones makes so much fukking money it's ridiculous.

HBO rarely lets a creator work on two shows at once. HBO has learned its lesson from cancelling Rome (which they admit it was a mistake), they give their series room to breath and grow. They don't do early cancellations unless the ratings are dreadful. BE's ratings weren't bad, they actually were pretty high for HBO. Just not true Blood or GOT type ratings.

Also HBO doesn't give that much of a shyt about ratings. they are NOT AMC, FX, etc. they are subscription base, they don't get ad dollars like the networks. They care about prestige and pop culture which leads to big revenue outside of the show. GIRLS has shytty ratings. But is huge in pop culture that's why HBO already renewed it for a 4th season.

What do you think makes it so expensive? The sets? The actors?

I find it hard to believe they couldn't go 7 seasons, (seemed like enough time to wrap all the storylines up) but if they're losing money producing the show I guess it can't survive.

It's a shame. True Blood should've ended this past season, maybe they could've put enough behind Boardwalk to get it another season or two.

Bittersweet. Last thing i want is for THIS show to get cheesy or stale. I imagine they'll jump between years in season 5 a bit?

Personally, I'd find it impossible for them not to go to 1928 where Rothstein is killed, 1929 with the Massacre, 1931 where Masseria is killed...but we'll see.

And some of yall are acting like we were gonna get to watch Meyer Lansky get old & become the boss he was when he died. Did yall expect full biographies of all these guys?

Yea, I'm thinking they must plan on skipping ahead a few years now. Pretty sure the massacre came after a fragile truce between Capone and the North Side was struck at Meyer's wedding in AC...so they gotta show that.

I figured they'd end after six with Lucky coming into his own and forming the commission, and Capone getting taken down for tax evasion. Now I don't know how they'll end it. Unless they do some mid season skipping, looks like we won't get to see Joe get clapped up. :beli:

The supposed new show he's working on sounds legit interesting to me. I'm gonna tune in for that for sure.

I love BE but 5 seasons is okay with me. However I do have a problem if its only 8 friggin' episodes.
