The only major award it's won from the Emmys is Supporting Actor last year. It won the majority of it's Emmys at the Creative Arts Emmys, which is for shyt like costumes and art direction.
It's never been a serious contender for Best Dramatic Series....and critics wereat Bobby Cannavale winning that one Emmy for the show.

You're statement is laughable. You don't know how HBO works. Newsroom doesn't get great ratings. It should technically be cancelled. HBO is keeping it on. And if you don't think the Newsroom is expensive you are a fool. lol

my issue is they wrote season 4 like they planned on having at least another two seasons to finish it up. now we arent going to have enough time to develop eli in chicago, i guess narcisse isnt coming back to go against nucky/chalky for the failed assassination, and chalky might as well just stay on that farm cuz i dont see how he could get involved for an 8 episode season with multiple years being skipped in between. going into season 5 theres no lingering issue that we can see them making a whole season about.
winter had to of known this was the plan in advance, but didnt write season 4 like say breaking bad when hank finds the book which set everything in motion to the conclusion. eli shoulda been killed if this was going to be the end, now theyre going to cram too much in little time. shyt is frustrating cuz i fukked with this show heavy and i can already see this season being rushed and being shyt. when did this season end? 1924? so what theyre gonna skip four years? and just brush over the backstabbing of eli, chalkys daughter being killed and him not getting revenge? idk man. disappointing.

and its a damn shame cuz truth be told that shyt has got progressively worse only die hard fans (who feel compelled to support it because they spent hours reading the books) will say otherwise
I noticed, it's watered down like hell (which couldn't be helped I guess), the several cast changes and dropped characters annoy me. I think the coming season is the last I'll watch of GOT. I'm not trying to see the show's ending before that fat nikka finishes the books.

You need to go back and do your homework because BE won tons of awards for the first two seasons (even a Grammy), and then it slowed down a bit.

It almost certainly had nothing to do with critical acclaim since it got tons, and more to do with poor ratings and expensive costs. They did the same thing with Deadwood and Rome which both had tons of critical acclaim (HBO even admitted cancelling Rome was a bad idea).
