Scarface Speaks About J. Prince Being "Totally Disrespectful"
Scarface and the Geto Boys but Rap-A-Lot Records on the map after their debut in the late 1980s, and the rap legend looked back on his days at the label with not much fondness.
During an interview with Noisey, Scarface shared what he believed to be the downfall of the label, "J Prince wanted to Master P the game. I was like, 'Wow like we f***ed up so bad trying to do Master P when we should've just continued to do us.' I feel like that was the fall of Rap-A-Lot Records to me. A lot of people may not see it like that, and some people might have gotten paid but from a creative stand point, trying be like Master P and put out albums every six or seven minutes f***ed up our brand. I think greed f***ed up the brand."
Scarface also shared his thoughts on J. Prince releasing "My Homies 2," which the rapper felt like hurt his own brand. He explained that the record was full of tracks that didn't make it to the first album, and the Houston native said that Prince wasn't out for the betterment of his artists.
"He put my name on My Homies 2. If anything, I feel like he was trying to ruin my career with cut-away material that never ever made the album. Just a totally disrespectful dude when it came to your s***. J didn't give a f*** about you. He gave a f*** about him. He didn't give a f*** about your family. He gave a f*** about his. He didn't give a f*** who you fed. He only fed his people. That's real s***. I'm not making this s*** up."
Prince has yet to respond to Scarface's comments.
