Naw just accept that Ryan stole the plot of FDTD for Sinners and we can keep it moving
Movie was fire the cast did there thing on this. Michael B and Coogler are the new Denzel and Spike. I heared majors was suppose to play one of the brothers man he would have took this great movie to another level but Michael still did his thing. I’m glad Delroy is getting his props for this I since hes a severely underrated actor. I hear people saying sequel but I coogler doesn’t since it’s a great standalone.
lol damn where in FDTD are there subtext about identity, assimilation/integration, freedom vs bondage, music, and so on???
as far as I know FDTD was a goofy vampire flick with bad writing and Tarantino himself "stole" bits and pieces from old films his whole career. Cool concept with bad execution.
Since movies are at their core trying to convey a message, please do tell the thread what FDTD message was that Coogler bit off here? No, the idea of surviving vampires in an enclosed space does not make a movie and even still the vampires in FDTD and Sinners dont even operate the same.

Two criminal brothers on the run and a Preacher's son travel to a bar. Once there they are attacked by vampires and one of the brothers gets turned into a vampire.
Is that the plot for FDTD or Sinners?
If you can't see how he stole the plot then agree to disagree. Even Double Toasted called it.

Still thinking about this movie, to me one of the morals of the story is that
it is not all those things that are designated as sins by the Church that cause Black people's situation.
Music and dancing, drinking/alcoholism, sex/cheating, gambling and lying, all of those were part of the night and while they obviously aren't necessarily good (music for example can heal people's pain and allow them to be free momentarily but it can also attract demons), the main problem is still white supremacy.
Because regardless of what sins happened that night, the KKK was about to pull up and kill them all in the morning regardless.
They could have been reading the Bible in that building for all that matters, the KKK would still have pulled up.
So Sammie's choice to still pursue music at the end makes sense. He knows there's no salvation in what his old man preaches. And despite what happened that night, as he says (I'm paraphrasing here), before everything came crashing down, that was the best moment of his life. He felt truly free.
The duality freedom/sinning was very well done
