This is like someone who was in Bum Fights challenging a pro boxer.

Shït like this is for people who have something to prove.

I don't.

It's clear which of us would benefit more from this bullshït, and Lord knows it ain't me.

Seeking the approval of a message board isn't worth my time and won't make me a better artist.

This film was a Black spiritual experience beginning to end. It the best movie of the year until further notice. They bodied the whole movie. There was so much Black American history it just oozed off the screen. Black Americans must never let anyone moves us away from our Ancestors and what they went through. It's nothing to be ashamed about, it's an honor that they battle, fought, suffered and survived. We have a unique culture and history spanning over 5 Centuries. Also there is nothing wrong with making a "Black" movie.

Stop letting people make you feel bad about talking about your culture and history. Growing up we watched all the "Black" movies like they were blockbusters, didn't matter if they flopped or not. Our stories and history is so rich that we can do many more Black oriented films in various genres based on multiple periods. Ryan knocked this joint out of the park. See what happens when a brotha gets a budget. Also Michael B Jordan went in, the whole cast did. This was worth seeing on the big screen. Damn at that ending too. Fire. Bottom line, If we don't tell our stories, we leave it up to other groups to tell it and it won't be as authentic and factual.

BRRRRRRROOOOOOOOOOOKKKKKKLLLLLYYYYYNNNN
Just came back from watching this movie.....

The initial pacing of the story was dope. There was a lot of meat and depth to all the characters back stories that were explored. ⏸️

The car scene with Delroy Lindo while the echoing torment of the story being heard in the background was a nice touch.

The cast was great. The wide angle camera shots were dope. Gorranson's music score was very fitting. It reminded me of a folklore version of "explosions in the sky" telling the story partially through the music. The backdrop to the cotton fields were cool.

I liked the deep exploration to the concept of sin throughout the entire movie.

There was one particular scene which I nearly deducted points because it was unreal but it needed to happen in order for the "hate" to explain a deeper meaning to their motives. If I was writing it, I wouldn't have spaced it out too much like a Tyler Perry show but consolidated it to where they didn't have the fụcking doors wide open communicating with them that long. Grace was bugging and mad retarded in that scene lol.

I deducted points in the 3rd act because Gorransons music was weird and mad off in that one particular ending scene plus timing was too coincidental but the post credits was a chef's kiss 🤌🏽 that gave it the proper ending.

I liked that Annie was from Louisiana (not Mississippi) and practiced hoodoo (knew right off the rip from the accent before it was mentioned). I also liked how Mississippi was connected to Chicago because that is real. My wife is from Chicago and has roots in Mississippi plus family out there.

Overall, somewhere between 8.9 to 9.1/10

I haven't seen anything as spiritually connected to a message since book of Clarence and also the concept of the devil was dope.

Coogler redeemed himself with this one i guess. MBJ acted his ass off. Great job. This is my unbiased review. I came in with very low expectations.

Also, Tariq Nasheed was right. I feel like a lot of people would've went with the Democratic approach and became a vampire rather than having their own opinion or using religion as a comfort spot like Sammies father when that too can be used against you hence the vampires.

Also, sin is inevitable especially when married hoes were entering the juke to get their sweaty pụssy ate out or cheating on their mates to fụck old flings. You just have to manage it and use it like a weapon for protection. The twins (Elijah & Elias) were possibly the concept of yin and yang for the balance of sin.... their father.

You're right, people in the film did remind me of Family down South. Our Black American History is full of amazing stories.
