The initial pacing of the story was dope. There was a lot of meat and depth to all the characters back stories that were explored.
The car scene with Delroy Lindo while the echoing torment of the story being heard in the background was a nice touch.
The cast was great. The wide angle camera shots were dope. Gorranson's music score was very fitting. It reminded me of a folklore version of "explosions in the sky" telling the story partially through the music. The backdrop to the cotton fields were cool.
I liked the deep exploration to the concept of sin throughout the entire movie.
There was one particular scene which I nearly deducted points because it was unreal but it needed to happen in order for the "hate" to explain a deeper meaning to their motives. If I was writing it, I wouldn't have spaced it out too much like a Tyler Perry show but consolidated it to where they didn't have the fụcking doors wide open communicating with them that long. Grace was bugging and mad retarded in that scene lol.
I deducted points in the 3rd act because Gorransons music was weird and mad off in that one particular ending scene plus timing was too coincidental but the post credits was a chef's kiss

that gave it the proper ending.
I liked that Annie was from Louisiana (not Mississippi) and practiced hoodoo (knew right off the rip from the accent before it was mentioned). I also liked how Mississippi was connected to Chicago because that is real. My wife is from Chicago and has roots in Mississippi plus family out there.
Overall, somewhere between 8.9 to 9.1/10
I haven't seen anything as spiritually connected to a message since book of Clarence and also the concept of the devil was dope.
Coogler redeemed himself with this one i guess. MBJ acted his ass off. Great job. This is my unbiased review. I came in with very low expectations.
Also, Tariq Nasheed was right. I feel like a lot of people would've went with the Democratic approach and became a vampire rather than having their own opinion or using religion as a comfort spot like Sammies father when that too can be used against you hence the vampires.
Also, sin is inevitable especially when married hoes were entering the juke to get their sweaty pụssy ate out or cheating on their mates to fụck old flings. You just have to manage it and use it like a weapon for protection. The twins (Elijah & Elias) were possibly the concept of yin and yang for the balance of sin.... their father.
