Still thinking about this movie, to me one of the morals of the story is that
it is not all those things that are designated as sins by the Church that cause Black people's situation.

Music and dancing, drinking/alcoholism, sex/cheating, gambling and lying, all of those were part of the night and while they obviously aren't necessarily good (music for example can heal people's pain and allow them to be free momentarily but it can also attract demons), the main problem is still white supremacy.

Because regardless of what sins happened that night, the KKK was about to pull up and kill them all in the morning regardless.

They could have been reading the Bible in that building for all that matters, the KKK would still have pulled up.

So Sammie's choice to still pursue music at the end makes sense. He knows there's no salvation in what his old man preaches. And despite what happened that night, as he says (I'm paraphrasing here), before everything came crashing down, that was the best moment of his life. He felt truly free.

The duality freedom/sinning was very well done
well said🎯

The year 3030
Timeskip to Sammy being old in the 90s and playing blues with a scar on his face. Killing it. Then at the end someone visits him and the guard asks if he minds. He says no. So the guard says off-screen, "you can come in" and Sammy pauses.

In walks MBJ young as the day the shyt went down... with Hailee Steinfeld. Both dressed in modern times (90s.) Sammy stares at them and finally asks "How?"

This MBJ is Stack, and he says that Smoke wasn't able to go through with killing him. Made him promise to Stay away from Sammy and his powerful music, so Stack did… Until now. Stax smells Sammy and says that death is coming soon, so he asks if Sammy wants to turn into a vampire with them.

Sammy declines. Says he's spent enough time in this world.

Stack respects it.

Sammy plays for them one last time on the repaired version of that same guitar. Then Stack and Hailee actually hug him, say goodbye, and leave him to whats rest of his life.

Sammy stops them and says that he still has nightmares of that night, but before everything went down it was the best day of his life to this day. He asks Stack if it was the same for him.

Stack says it was. That for a few hours in his life he was actually free. But that night is the last time he saw his brother and the last time he saw the sun. Then he and Hailee walk out.

and these mfs put that shyt BEHIND THE CREDITS!!!

i didnt see that one either. apparently (Google) its after that night with a young Sammy playing guitar and maybe trying to summon someone, and someone arrives at his doorstep, but we don't see the person

kinda lame if true since the mid-credit one happens after that. maybe sequel bait

The post credit scene is literally just him playing “this little light of mine” in the church for a minute and then it’s over lol. Idk even know how it could be after the night if the guitar is still intact and he isn’t fukked up. He left town immediately after he showed up at the church.

Where did you get this :dead:

That's not how Vampire lore works and Coogler dumbass was too stupid and lazy to flush out rules of Vampire so you (audience/viewer) won't get confused. But he sucks, so he didn't.

Vampires can't geaux into a building from outside with our permission. If he was made a Vampire in a building, then he has domain over every sq inch as his own.

Anne gave him permission to stay implicitly by allowing his body to rest inside temporarily and by the time they realized that was a bad idea, Stack was already resurrected.

As an aside, Coogler is the only one of us writing for us that isn't on some Tyler Perry c00nery and buffoonery...

Now is the time to be united....not divided

In the final post-credits scene, we see Sammie as a young man again, singing and playing “This Little Light of Mine” on the guitar we last saw smashed to bits after that violent night at the juke joint. As the prologue of the film explains, there are musicians whose skill can heal communities but also summon evil: we know that Sammie is one such musician. It’s a nice to see Caton playing and singing again, his debut role a remarkable introduction to this young actor. But the scene itself could be read as a little ambiguous, too: is Sammie trying to pierce the veil again, playing a song that could both foster community but also bring back the vampires? Is it just another showcase for Caton in his first feature? Who might be waiting on the threshold of his father’s church when the song is over? We don’t see what comes next — but Sammie does.
