It’s so weird Putin feels the need to frame everything as a peacekeeping or refugee situation. Reading over his speech he straight up says the Soviets were wrongheaded and Ukraine doesn’t exist.

So why the need to spend so much time playing nurse if he’s just going to announce his real reason anyway?

Who is he performing for? Lenin and the Bolshevik Revolution isn’t common tongue in most of Western Europe or America.

He's basically rehashing Kosovo intervention as a middle finger to NATO. He got to inflict to Ukraine what NATO inflicted on Serbia.

Exactly. He just totally isolated Russia from the world stage and amade himself sound like a madman.

He is betting that oil and gas dependancy saves him, but he may be in for an unpleasant surprise.

Breh, I'm really trying to understand the point that you're making. Are you saying that because Russia and America have been geopolitically opposed, that this means that the US will put troops on the ground in the Ukraine?
I'm not sure about troops. But they will 1000000% bomb the fukk out of them.

And yes, it's not in the USAs interest for Russia to move further into Ukraine.

The Russians normally like to put the ball on the other’s court and talk about their moral position and international law and all that jazz.

I thought they’d follow the same script since 2014 a little longer.

They be cracking me up when they play the victim 24/7 :pachaha:

Their whole foreign policy is basically based on them juelzing at all times :pachaha:

He's doing this because the US and NATO forced his hand. The speech he gave today was the speech at the bottom of all the other speeches that he had to throw away because every move he made, US intelligence was on that ass exposing his every move.

That's what makes him look unstable right now. He's in a quagmire of his own making at this point and he can't get out of it even if he wanted to.

Like someone said in this thread earlier, it's too late to call the troops back. It's gone too far to turn around now.

:ehh: good speech, now let's see if he can back it up.

I know brehs want to discount him cause of his history as a talk show host or comedian or whatever he was, but I learned not to judge someone by their past occupation when Bashar Al Assad, a freakin dentist, became one of the few Arab leaders to survive the Arab Spring when fabled military geniuses like Gaddafi were hiding in sewers until they got shot in the streets like random hoodrats. :francis:

Bro, no, the US is not about to bomb Russia. The only thing we will do is provide aid to the Ukraine and even then, once the Russian military campaign gets into full swing, we probably won't even do that. Or at least, we will do it from a distance.

No one wants any type of conflict between American and Russian soldiers that could possibly set off WW3. We don't want our soldiers anywhere close to an invaded Ukraine.

So how we do we solve our gas dependancy?
Russia is selling to China and we are left to dry...

Any solution is too expensive to bring EU economy in a huge problem...

Edit: even for China it is much cheaper to just have Russia turn to them, then to build infrastructure in Africa (although they would probably continue to do it for other resources)...
Only EU seems left to dry...

EU is going to suffer regardless, but they put themselves in this position.

At this stage they need to hope OPEC and allies like they US can help.
