Intense social media propaganda is rife right now on this war. Would take anything posted by clear proponents of either side with a heavy grain of salt.
Nap has linked so many obscure twitter accounts in all his years here that he has to be on some kind of intelligence watch list :mjlol:

Your head is completely in the sand and your current irrational biases or whatever you want to call it is to blame

How do you not understand that countries that were previously dominated by the Soviet Union/Russia and would want to prevent that happening in the future?

Imagine being against basic rights and international law in 2022

:mjlol:

How is looking at cause and effect being biased, doctor?

It’s a trip seeing so many of you lose your shyt just because some of us want to have a nuanced picture of the situation. I mean, if y’all are that basic then here:

Russia is in the wrong.
Russia is breaking international law.
Ukraine, and any other nation, has the right to be a sovereign nation and make its own choices.

Ok, and? Does any of that explain Russia’s motivations? I’m not at all discussing whether they are legitimate gripes or not but it doesn’t hurt to bring them up either. If you just want to stick to the fact that Russia is the aggressor and needs to be dealt with then more power to you.

But some of us like to understand the history behind conflicts as well as potential solutions. I’d love to think that you and other posters like you will stop painting some of us as Putin apologists or whatever but I’m doubtful. Doesn’t really matter to me, but it does reflect how shallow discussions can be on hlnbc. :ld:

Sh*t is building on both sides. NATO countries openly supporting Ukriane with significant amount of artillery/intel shows they know something big is in the works.

First comes the emotional support, then the Intel, then the artillery support, then the boots on ground.

This is close to being no longer about 'helping' Ukraine as much as it feels the world knows now is the time to eradicate Putin's regime.
LiL Kim Jun UN lookin at the beats getting put on Putin and he’s like :whoa:

Supposedly he's been barely seen by people and has had very little contact with folks since the pandemic started. It's Russia though, so who the fukk knows how reliable the reporting is. Might just be people trying to explain his recent behavior. It does make sense though, can't deny that.

There's also rumors that Putin is having serious health problems (specifically Parkinson's disease and/or cancer) and that might be a factor in his behavior.

But It's like you said, with Russia you never really know if it's true or not.

This one of the worst military failures in modern times :ohhh:

Emperor had no clothes on this whole time. But once backed into a corner anything is possible. :francis:

Like I said earlier, can’t help but think back to Eritrea/Ethiopia. It’s very conflicting to fight your own kin, even more difficult when they’ve got absolute resolve to obtain/maintain sovereignty. Despite the smaller size, it’s the heart and organization that makes a difference. It’s playing out in a slightly similar fashion, Ukrainians are much more up for this fight than Russia is and no technology is gonna offset that.

If Afghanistan had half the heart of the average Ukrainian citizen, the Taliban wouldn't have taken the country

This comparison is ridiculous. Afghanistan is a 3rd world, war torn country (50+ years of consecutive war). They are also extremely poor (top 10 lowest GDP in the world) and uneducated (2nd worst literacy rate in the world).

The country that has had to deal with the Soviets, the Taliban, Al Qaeda, ISIS, and NATO forces in 50+ years of war doesn't have heart?
