Why hasn’t OPEC pump out more oil to prevent energy spikes like this. We had and oil glut 3-4 years ago and it was mad cheap. Now OPEC don’t want to pump out more oil. Did the pandemic hurt the OPEC nations pickets that much? I would think the US would pressure KSA into doing this. The Iran deal is still being negotiated so there is no guarantee that will succeed.

Because they can't

a bunch of those opec countries weren't able to meet the increased quotas

General question, in all seriousness.

How does Putin get out of this without letting nukes fly?

He can't hold Ukraine. But anything less than complete victory makes him vulnerable at home.

His aggression has no endgame. This isn't Crimea. The West isn't going to sit down while he has his armies in Ukraine.

What is the option outside of nukes for a man like Putin?

There's a rationale in the mind of those who commit those atrocities not in those who try to understand it !
Every action does not have rationale behind it. Often times from spontaneity. And hence in this particular situation people are failing to see putins rationale (for himself and his countrymen).

And again this is magnified with the fact people were in here justifying putins “rationale” based off the US foreign policy history because that’s their gimmick. Before bombs started dropping that is, and all of a sudden the rationale explaining ceased.

:comeon:

Nuance and debating rationale, motivations etc are not the same thing. Ukranians themselves are doing this as we speak. World War 2 history is one of the biggest genres of historical nonfiction in the world.

People were not having intellectual debates about Hitler’s motivations in the middle of World War II while he was roasting millions of Jews for dinner. The time for intellectual debate is a luxury reserved for after the conflict is over. You think slaves and freedom fighters like John Brown and Harriet Tubman were thinking about the rationale of the Confederates? Hell nah.

Unless another foreign power flagrantly helps Ukraine (which Putin has threatened they shouldn't), and most have been selling sanction wolf tickets, he is just going to grind them (Ukraine) down, he has the resources to do so. It seems like there main objective now is to take the capital.

I think for now the Russians might be tactical but if a guerilla war develops I could see them going heavy handed and just leveling city after city

at that point it really becomes who wants to be captain save a hoe and save Ukraine? is she worth it?

I'm guessing Putin has intentions for Ukraine. It is valuable land.
if they can take over Ukraine and somehow stabilize it...there's not much the world can do.
