Super unpopular opinion here yall gimme hell if you want but, there's no reason we should be fighting this proxy war :yeshrug: ppl here cheerleadering and laugh at Ukraine "whooping" Russia when we know what it is, intelligence and arms being provided mostly by us.

Yes long story short I'm saying we should have let Ukraine go at it by themselves or at least let the Europeans by themselves worry about it. Instead we are slowly leading the March into what will be a massive world wide conflict unfortunately

It wouldn't have stopped with Ukraine.

We really need to be clear here. We awould be getting into a world war beacuse of Russia.
stealing land and wiping out a countries sovereignty at the threat of nuclear attack is a worse precedent that cannot be permitted to stand.

it the international community allowed it, it ensures a global arms race to fully deter that ever happening again. the world wouldn't be any more secure with even more weapons of mass destruction in it.

:yeshrug:

this right here is what's going to lead us straw into a world War, over Ukraine of all places.

Not all over Ukraine. Granted Ukraine is the most prominent facet at the moment in the overall conflict between Russia and the West but Putin is the quintessential line stepper. Constantly pushing and pulling his way in former satellite states, election interference (this time at gun point), all up in MI6, paying off German politicians to this day probably, I could go on.

The point I'm trying to make is that the Ukraine war is like bad breath, it's a symptom of a much larger problem that was going to come to a head one way or another. Putin chose to make it Ukraine and here we are.

crazy how this sentiment of not our problem is still around, the U.S thought the same of germany right up until germany tried to link up with mexico against the U.S.

it's incredibly naïve to still believe putin would have been satisfied with just ukraine. europe and the united states finally realized putin is not a rational actor and his word doesn't mean shyt. they saw a confrontation as inevitable and ukraine is rightfully defending their sovereignty and is willing to die for it.

Define "victory"....But, before you do that you need to digest all of the L's that Putin has taken up to this point. Then you ask yourself "What kind of victory would it take to erase all of those L's?" Because those L's ain't going away. Those sanctions have already proven that Russia is not a self sufficient nation capable of producing all that domestic consumption requires. Let me put it to you this way, If sanctions remain in place a year from now Russia will not have a commercial airline industry. Period. Airbags in cars have already been tossed in the bushes because they can't manufacture them. This will cascade throughout all of Russian society.

As for Trump and the rise of the far right in Europe, meh... Putin is now seen as an existential threat to Europe, that's to say a massive shift in perception has taken place and I don't think National politics can tip the scale at this point, not even a Trump reelection. Worst case scenario is Trump pulls the U.S. out of NATO. Now Russia feels free to attack NATO soil and Article 5 kicks in.

Ain't no victory for Putin in this.
Putin is so bad even right wingers in Europe don’t fukk with him. As bad as they themselves are no one wants a return of anything Soviet with a Russian tint.

So far as the European energy crisis this winter goes, Russia couldn't supply gas even if both parties agreed to it at this point. Nord Stream 1 & 2 are done. Putin no longer has gas as a bargaining chip. Europe is gonna have to tough it out with whatever help the U.S. and Canada can send over. Europe needs LNG facilities immediately if not sooner but that takes years unless they start using floating LNG units.

Live in interesting times, brehs...
This Venezuela play looking lovely right now

You do see how you would be ultimately delaying the inevitable, while allowing your enemy to strengthen though, right?
