Not really because 2013 was when the racists and tea party really started grouping together...
But that chart in 2017 is irrelevant because the left has become just as fantacial as the right.
Not even sure why that guy would possibly that other than trying to mislead people.
I did not see data for 2017.
However, the center point (0.00) is the sense of what that current America looks like for that particular year.
Naturally, as "equal rights" had become the theme for American post Civil Rights era - there becomes a shift of the right wing's desire to become separatist out of fear that their heritage, religion, and finances would be affected. They definitely aren't;t willing to conform to the change because the climate/sense of America is changing and taboo's are becoming acceptable norms.
Deep within the blue, they feel the same way but in a sense are willing to tolerate others but there's a line established on how far left they are willing to go. That line will never go too far from away from the right - which is where the deep-rooted sense of what makes America "Great" which is white supremacy.
Just like you mentioned that the tea party has united with the Republicans - one can easily say that the communities such as LGBT have democratic views out of the protection of their lifestyle more so than their viewpoints on equal rights for minorities.
