But that's the thing. Some of them see other people happy with the outcome and acting like that is how it should be. That such is ideal. That is, how their life should be, which many of them are opposed to. In short, what we're seeing is a war of ideals. They see an ideal far from their own ideal being potentially being put upon them, their community, and so on and are taking offense. It's natural and not abnormal nor does it make them stupid or what not. Nothing more.
One could argue about the "correctness" of the ideal but again, since it is an ideal that has existed and persisted for some time and is very strong in other racial groups, it makes sense that some men would take offense to it. As for presidents or normal people, again, none of that matters. What matters is the ideal. We see rich people and famous rich athletic decent-looking people as part of some ideal existence. So one would expect them to chose something, to be able to afford something closer to the ideal rather than settling, and yes, they see this as settling because having a kid lowers your value overall. It's all about the ideal.
The rest of your points relate to normal people who many see as being far from the ideal because they are in a situation that forces them to be. In the end, a lot of people look down on the less than ideal and that is part of the thing that drives people, especially men, to do as they do. When a person takes the less than ideal, they call it settling for a reason.
