From reading bits & pieces of LA Reid`s book & an interview from usher, Tevin Campbell`s 2nd album called I'm ready was originally supposed to be usher's debut album.

When they fell out babyface took the album that was supposed to be for usher & took it to tevin Campbell to record.

LA Reid really felt like usher had "IT" while he thought tevin had a great voice, but didn't have that star quality.

Babyface was never really sold Usher & favored Tevin more than him.

I think this explains why there was tension between both of them during that time period.
