BC is not a priority but it’s more so like why not at this point.: yeshrug:
And when they took it away y’all pretended old games didn’t matter.
Don’t forget that
Just seems like sony is going for more of a disney + strategy with it. A huge library of games across 5 generations, some new indie and 3rd party day ones like they do with ps plus already, and maybe the occasional spinoff or multiplayer 1st party game.
They will hold onto their “blockbuster” titles like disney does, because they break even on them with just preorders alone
Naw. This one for Andy.Gannicus Pass, fukk a spartacus.
Only real ones know.
What does this change? Does pioneering something give you the justification to later act scummy about it? Let's not copy the worst lessons to copy from Nintendo.NO ONE was doing backwards compatibility on consoles before Sony did it with the PS2 and PS3.

Removing it from the market completely, and then never making it available again even when people were asking for it and then ignoring that again on your newest console until your hand is forced is scummy tho.Scummy or the ROI? People wanted the price lower on the PS3 and that was a big reason why. Nothing is for free. Removing the PS2 chip lowered the PS3 price to something more affordable.
All these shyts cost money so even the development of emulation software to run backwards compatibility gotta get recouped.
Was gonna post this lolGenesis does
The arsonist put out the fire they started. This is the market leader. Somehow a company trailing them found a way to reward their customers at no extra cost and make their current system backwards compatible with 3 generations of software at no extra charge.Scummy or the ROI? Meanwhile the head of Sony's gaming division dismisses BC as something nobody really even wants then later decides to sell it as a service. If nobody wants it why is it being sole as a service now? I get that you probably can't play PS1 games in a PS5 because the disc drive doesn't read CDs. What's stopping them from enabling PS2 and PS3 games? If they're going to come out with a service that lets people play these games on a PS5 then the expectation should be if you already bought these games physical or digital then since the hardware can play them they should grant previous customers access.
It baffles me that people literally defend Sony on everything they do even if they have to bend themselves in a pretzel to match Sony's contradictions to their own previous statements:
Nobody wants to play old games : Let's sell access to old games as a service
We believe in generations now games only on new hardware : Let's bring our new titles to the old generation
PS5 requires an upgrade fee over PS4 games : Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't see Horizon Forbidden West.
No access to buy digital titles on PS3 and Vita : Keeps access because consumers demanded it
That last one is key. If Sony fans start standing up to this company they they'd act better but since so many fans just brainlessly follow them and parrot talking points Sony gets away with it.
