I'd let him walk.
Signing guys to huge deals cause "we already near the cap anyway" leads to Al Horford Tobias Harris deals where the team STILL regrets it
I rather let those borderline guys walk and have a year where the team is $10-15m under the cap in the near future where they can sign cheap guys like Christian Wood
instead of locking in on an overpay that has no impact on winning a chip
He’s not anything more than what the Jazz are offering. If he thinks he can get more, let him find out the hard way. Gobert is a nice piece, but that’s what he is a piece. He really hurts the team on offense in crunch times situations, and paying him that much pretty much puts on the 1st round treadmill every year.

Jazz are kind of fukked and Rudy’s playing with the houses money.

thought the covid fukkery might have helped the jazz long term by signing a quick low key long term team friendly deal but the Eiffel Tower wants his money :wow:

They'll be better with Favors on the court during the playoffs again this year than with Gobert. He isn't worth close to the max. They should have traded him a year or two ago. Let someone else pay him big money.

Guys talking about Utah can't afford to lose him when what have they won with him? He's gonna be like the 4th best player on a title contending team. Gets run off the court every postseason in PnRs despite his supposed defensive prowess. Jokic cooked him for 26/8/5 just this year in the playoffs and that's not even factoring in Jamal Murray going nuts.

Gobert's by far the most overrated player in the league.

@CHICAGO this is the exact example I was giving in a previous thread about why the supermax fukks teams over.

Aint no way in hell a player as limited offensively as Gobert deserves a supermax but since he is a "multi time DPOY" winner here he is demanding one:mjlol:

Rudy Gobert taking up 35% of your cap:russ:

He earned it. He put himself in the position to get the supermax. Now the question is does he warrant it. fukk no

True. But the way to earn a supermax isn't all that hard. If you are a top 30 player in the nba you can realistically earn a supermax. Just need to make all nba 3rd team one or two years before your contract is up.

YOU GOT TO PAY TO PLAY.

ITS THE fukkING JAZZ.

NO NOTABLE FREE AGENT
WILL NEVER SIGN THERE.

THEY COULDNT EVEN KEEP
A CAC LIKE HAYWARD.

CAP SPACE MEANS NOTHING
IF YOU CANT USE IT.

I get what you saying, but this ain't it :hubie:

Trade him if you can, then overpay someone like Nerlens 15M/year to play there(Noel is making $5M this year) :hubie:

I dont understand the arguement that since Utah wont very able to get big name free agents they should throw away money by signing Gobert who is clearly not worth a supermax. I'd rather hold that money for an off chance they could get better pieces

I'm not arguing with you. Just stating the facts. Also, if it was easy everybody would get one. That's not the case

Unless Utah doesn't have the money it would be pointless to let him go. No decent free agent is ever gonna sign there. You already have Mitchell, Gobert and a good coach all you really need is another mid to late first round pick to hit and you can compete for a title in 2 years when Bron is to old dominate.

And if those pieces dont come to fruition you're stuck with a worse squad and a likely pissed off/unimpressed donovan mitchell

They signed Bogdanovic and Favors signed back with them; Clarkson re-upped. If they have money, some guys will sign. Mitchell is the key player and he's locked in for a while. It would be wasteful to max out Gobert, especially when he's not the guy who gets them over the hump.
