YOU GOT TO PAY TO PLAY.

ITS THE fukkING JAZZ.

NO NOTABLE FREE AGENT
WILL NEVER SIGN THERE.

THEY COULDNT EVEN KEEP
A CAC LIKE HAYWARD.

CAP SPACE MEANS NOTHING
IF YOU CANT USE IT.

It’s not always about cap space. Nobody enjoys paying the luxury tax. Remember Cap Space isn’t just for outright signings.

those bringing up the cap are missing the point. the jazz dont sign fa's so the cap is irrelevant, or theoretically, it should be. signing gobert to a super-max wont prevent them from getting anything of worthwhile value, they are a small market team who is going to have to build through the draft. if im not donovan mitchell, im pissed if they dont re-sign dude. obviously he isnt worth 40m a year based off his limiations, but from a contractual standpoint he did his part to earn the qualification. Him and his agent would be silly to accept anything else in utah.
Y’all wasn’t saying this in March when Rudy got Covid and y’all thought he passed it onto Mitchell. Y’all were ready to throw him in the bushes.

He’s a free agent next year. Who should just jump out the window and max him out?

after the covid incident, I suggested they should trade him, I never suggested they let him walk for NOTHING. There are plenty of desperate teams that could throw him a bag. Hornets, Spurs, Raptors, Bulls, Knicks, Thunder could all afford to. Not saying they will, but theyll have the cap space to consider it. Seems like a Knicks move imo.

You honestly and seriously claimed he was an international terrorist plotting to infect his teammates and spread the plague. Why are you even talking about cap space, shouldn't you be demanding his arrest?

All true. But the alternative shouldn't be paying a guy who always gets played off the floor in the playoffs 35% of your cap. Supermax need to be changed to people who make first team all nba or finish top 5 in mvp voting and that is it

They could throw him a crazy amount of money. They’ll all look dumb for doing so. That stops being Utah Jazz because they’ve already invested in developing plan B. They can use their money and draft picks on adding depth.

And even if they are, what of value was gonna come back to Utah in a deal? Even better question: what would be off the table in March 2021 that woulda been on the market a month ago? It’s not as if his value will change barring injury.

No they won’t. The jazz have never been that sort of team historically (C-Booz, D-Will, etc). They always figure they can rebuild in the draft.
Well, they got Boozer to fukk over the Cavs to sign there. :manny:

That team has peaked with Gobert and they can draft a rim runner and develop him to be Gobertesque (not as good just similar) within 3 seasons or they can trade for a Robert Williams or Mitchell Robinson. Just last year we was hearing his relationship with Donovan was strained. It’s also the same story with dude in the playoffs. They can trade dude and get value giving him a super max is retarded.

He can be a great rim protector and vertical spacer but for that super max you have to be like Jokic, AD, Embiid, KAT, gotta have skill.

Utah's scoring defense rankings since Gobert got significant minutes

2014 - 1st
2015 - 2nd
2016 - 1st
2017 - 2nd
2018 - 4th
2019 - 9th

That's regular season...in the playoffs they offense and defense is terrible because now Rudy is playing against elite guards who keep him on skates every game and not fukking bums on the knicks and bobcats and pelicans...

Big difference between having lonzo ball , ricky rubio, and terry rozier attacking you in the pick and roll and then having harden or steph or dame attacking you in the pick and roll at least 4 games in a row...guys like that go buy Gobert like he is not even on the floor...

Murray aint even in that top tier pick and roll guard class and he looked like the greatest ever going against Gobert in the playoffs...
