Only reason I why I know who he is is because mos sampled himCrazy I don't recall my folks listening to Roy Ayers. Pops was more a Count Basie/Duke Ellington type, so I wasn't really exposed to Ayers until Brand Nubian and Smif N Wessun (check the avy), Mos Def later on. When I finally started exploring Ayers' music though it was like coming home.
Living Legend. Should do album with some half way quality rap and r&b acts and producers.
Miles Davis last album with Easy Mo Bee (Biggie's and many other NYC 90s rappers' producer) called Doo Bop. Miles passed in 1991, it was released in 1992. Doo-Bop - Wikipedia
Roy Ayer's legend is secured, but opportunity to make a tangible musical connection with high caliber younger artists or even other mature artists, would be dope.
