It's a hypothetical you can't even play around with though because the 9ers had a chance to take him and didn't because of the exact flaws that are derailing his career. There was a bunch of smoke about Shanny not being interested because he felt like Justin :

- lacked anticipation
- didn't process the field well
- couldn't make quick decisions

All of that has come to fruition and then some.
You're not wrong. I heard dude on Cowherd show say that Kyle didnt like him cause he doesnt see the field well. I just think with that talent and scheme around him he still would be productive even if he's just a middle of the pack QB w/potential.

RG3 had the same issues. However, as much as we criticized the Shanahans they were by far the best options for RG3 than Gruden or whoever else. That would have got him until he was in his late 20s where hopefully through playing he could pick up the nuances of the game quicker.

Holding on to the ball for 3 seconds as an NFL QB is a death knell. No line can hold their blocks for that long and he cannot throw into NFL level windows and I don't know if it gets better in Chicago.
Crazy part is he’s got a cannon. He’s second guessing his arm. Just let that bytch go!! As a coach how do you not have this man taking quick drops in rhythm hitting crossers at the least, dump offs, anyhting to get him used to letting the ball go confidently. He looks like he’s never thrown a football sometimes

I still believe in Fields, but the thing that always bothered me is how Haskins (pre-Fields) and Stroud (post-Fields) put up such big passing #s a game at OSU. Yet Fields his stats was just pretty good.

They relied more on the running game, less 3 or 4 WR sets w/ him.

Im just not sure Ohio State would have had nearly 3 1000 yard wrs if Fields was the QB instead of Stroud.

OC might be ass. But Moore/Claypool/Kmet/Tonyan/Mooney (when healthy) should be enough to pass for 250 yards a game.

He's gotta figure out a way to play urgent.

Talk from Caleb's camp is just posturing to me.

The risk of playing another year at USC isn't worth the possible reward of going to non-crappy NFL franchise in the 2025 draft (he would go to a crappy team anyways in 2025).

The only leverage he has is refusing to play for Arizona or Chicago and force a trade, which could easily backfire on him.
He probably doesn’t play next year

I think this was one of the many reasons Niners passed over him. They scouted Fields tape and came away thinking Trey Sermon was a bigger part of why OSU offense was good. They drafted Sermon and he was a bust :francis:

He has a case of the yips when throwing and now it looks like he doesn't even know when to run. Bears were picked as one of the most improved teams over this summer, so that's why this is perplexing and really catching attention from everyone.

I dont know whether Im out on Fields in general, but Im definitely out on him being a pocket passer. Just not enough anticipation/processing from him.

I think they need to let loose what he does best - run the football via scrambling and cater the offense to that. I hate to say this but Greg Roman and installing a pistol one-read option might be the way. Theyre not letting him run much right now and without his running ability he's looking like doo doo.

Nah Caleb is an ultra elite prospect. He could go back to school, have a bad season and will be top 3 at worst.

Ja’Marr Chase spent a year on the couch and was a top 5 pick.

To avoid going to a rough organization I think he’s prepared to skip this draft and honestly I think it’s the right move. If that avoids being in Arizona or Chicago it’s worth it.
if he’s as good as advertised, then he could be the one to turn it around. The colts had no real history at qb before Peyton came to town and rewrote it. Sometimes you jsut have to believe in yourself and ability. Besides that’s a still a major market with a vacant spot(historically) at the most important spot in the sport. The most important qb in the franchise history is jim McMahon. It wouldn’t take much to surpass that besides longevity and success. Look at what Lamar is doin for Baltimore,
I completely agree. Arizona is the worst organization in the league. Can anyone make an argument for going there over the Commanders? Caleb should demand a trade if the Cardinals draft him.
the cardinals been to a superbowl much recently than the WFT
