So the guy who was allegedly so bad at his job that a first year coach with zero play calling experience felt he had to take his play calling rights...is now likely gonna end up being the OC for offensive genius Kyle Shannahan.

Campbell ended the year well, can't deny it. But I will never be cool with how Lynn was turned into the scapegoat for an offense that didn't have a serviceable WR (at the time), was missing key o-line pieces (at the time), and had a questionable QB.

breh, maybe they didn’t mesh. The offense improved afterwards. Maybe Jared is hard to coach and Lynn didn’t fit what Jared needed. Jared seems soft and Lynn seems like a straightforward dude. Hopefully Lynn and Lance gel in SF

:yeshrug:Honestly, them nikkas wasn'tnt working out and from the sounds of it the relationship wasn't the best behind the scenes. Don't see where either of them trashed each other upon the departure so I don't see a real issue. Sometimes the chemistry just ain't there for work relationships.

Sometimes shyt just doesn’t work out. Campbell and Lynn weren’t on same page. Campbell is head coach so he took over :yeshrug:. Doesn’t take anything away from Lynn just didn’t work out

Reality is the offense looked better with Campbell calling plays. Which does justify decision

Sources with Detroit indicated the organization is keeping its options open and giving a lot of consideration to a variety of directions to go with the second-overall pick.
The Lions are not head over heels in love with Michigan edge rusher Aidan Hutchinson or Oregon edge rusher Kayvon Thibodeaux.
Lions general manager Brad Holmes also said he would listen to trade offers to potentially move down. A lot of the teams picking in the top five would be interested in moving down, but there may not be a market of teams interested in trading up. That could force Detroit to stick and pick.
While Hutchinson and Thibodeaux are candidates for the Lions, they are keeping their options open and might go another direction high in the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft.”

Not surprised. Which is why I can’t ignore the Willis hype

It was a given that Ben Johnson was gonna be the OC. I hope he's not a JBC where his offense gets figured out after being promoted.

So we'll see how this goes

Give me Jameson Williams. They need a true #1 wideout. Both Super Bowl teams had one (Rams had two); the Chiefs, Bills and 49ers had one as well.

4Qs with Dane Brugler: Could the Lions afford to pass on EDGE early?

Drafting Willis would start the clock on Holmes and Campbell, officially. If you take a project QB that early - or trade down for him - you’re tying the entire rebuild to him. I just can’t co-sign that. I’d rather get everything in place, keep Goff, and then find a QB next draft when we once again have two 1st round picks. You can package them to move up. Rams aren’t gonna repeat and given how many players they’re gonna lose to FA/retirement, they might not make the playoffs.

Take the best edge rusher available and best remaining WR with these two picks. Then just build the defense and get another starting TE. Lots of draft picks, this could really be our moment to secure a successful 2-4 year window.
