He's their #1 because in this moment, they don't have anybody better than him. If they sign or draft someone better than him, he won't be their #1.

Targets matter to a degree when determining who the catalyst/focal point of a passing attack is, but it isn't end-all be-all.
That is not what a #1 receiver is. Anybody that knows anything about football knows that. What you saying is to say If a team has 4 receivers and 3 are complete trash and the 4th is ok then the 4th is a #1 receiver. That is poppycock that team doesn’t have a #1 receiver.

a #1 receiver is Mike evans,Justin Jefferson,stephon diggs,davante Adams,copper kupp

Brown had a nice second half of the season but calm down.

He’s their best receiver but that doesn’t make him a #1. We have the worst receiver core in the league. He’s a slot receiver and we need someone on the outside to stretch defenses.

He’s really good! Can a slot receiver become a #1? Sure, look at Golden Tate a few years ago here. Technically Jones was the #1 but Tate was dominating. My hope is that we end up with:

1st or 2nd round pick (Olave, London, Bell. Etc)
Josh Reynolds
Amon St Brown
Quintez Cephus
Veteran FA

Suddenly our biggest weakness becomes a strength.

Hamilton best prospect in draft. Best safety prospect since Sean Taylor. Wouldn’t hate him at #2. Ball hawk with that size and speed. I know positional value but a special player is a special player. Will Harris literally cost Lions a couple games this year. Walker/Hamilton combo would be great :yeshrug:

Think Thibideux has star potential but has bust factor and Hutchinson has a high floor but unsure of his ceiling

I wouldn’t hate it. Holmes says if your guy is there you take him. I’d prefer to trade back a few spots if I the lions don’t believe in any of the DE’s. if they can’t work out a deal so be it. Get your guy.

I feel with thibs if the tv hadn’t told me all year he was the number one guy nothing he did this year would’ve made me feel that way on my own. I probably wouldn’t even know who he is yet.

It’ll be interesting to see if a staff full of former players are interested in drafting a player off of potential and tools and not production assuming both thibs and hutch are there.

Officially declaring victory in the Stafford Wars, gentlemen. Our boy got his first playoff win, played a great game, and proved once and for all that the main problem was our FO/organization. One year with a great defense. Couple years with a functional run game. Some of the worst depth in the NFL on a yearly basis.

I'd hold off on the praise until next week. The Cards shyt the bed in every conceivable way.

Jared Goff also beat the Cards. He threw more passes in that game, had a better completion percentage, had more yards, and more touchdowns than Stafford did in that playoff game.

Lions low key most stable team in NFC North :ohhh:

Packers about to be in cap hell. Rodgers gone, probably can’t afford to pay Adams. Jordan Love is terrible

Bears- new coach/gm. Is Fields answer at QB? Poor oline, aging Dline

Vikings- new coach/gm. Stuck on Cousins treadmill.

Yea big opportunity. There’s a legit path to win the division with the right draft and FA period. I think it’s essential we use both 1st round picks on starters btw. Whether it’s DE and WR, DE and S, whatever. Taking a QB this year in the first round would be stupid, given the talent available to us at other positions.

Fill the roster, take a chance on a QB in later rounds, and be prepared to package both 1st round picks next year to move up for whoever we think is the QB of the future.

I look at the Bengals and get jelly. Why can't we have success like that and a QB to be proud of? Oh well.

hypothetically would you use the second first on fields. I saw n unrealistic report saying the bears aren’t sure if he’s the answer and may move on from him but with this draft the bears doing something like that is unthinkable.

With that said have y’all seen enough from fields to think he’d be worth a first. Me personally, I’d say no.

I wouldn't. Maybe Fields is good, maybe not. He needs more time and I'm not using draft capitol on any young QB who gets bounced that early. In 2023 there will be CJ Stroud, Bryce Young, and other options to look at.

i agree but I don’t think stroud or young will be available to us if we’re as good as we will be cuz I don’t think we’ll finish bottom 10. The other teams in that range will probably stand pat and take those 2.

I see us extending Goff if we improve. The GM that drafted him is on our team.

Lets say we win 7-8 games next season, which seems doable. We have two 1st round picks. That would give us between the 8 and 14 pick. We also have the Rams pick. Lets assume the Rams get another wildcard or come close so the pick is mid to late 20s. It would certainly be possible to package both picks to move into the top 5 for a QB. If our guy is there, Holmes should go get him.

I anticipate the Lions will win too many games to get Bryce Young next draft.
