those are all good points. I don’t think Goff was as bad as I thought he was starting out the season and we can win with him.

My only concern is Qb’s don’t take pay cuts and when his contract is up do we resign him to a large qb contract if we win games next yea? Do we let him walk if he asks too much?

I’d hate to be in the same situation we were in with stafford where we’re paying a guy top qb money when he’s not a top qb.
I think you might be overthinking it. Only way I see that happening is if he absolutely balls out, and even then I still don't know they do it. If everything comes together like the plan seems to be then the team will be ripe for a cost controlled young QB to come in and take the reigns with a nicely built team around him. Stafford was different as he was drafted and groomed to be the franchise savior, so there was more vested interest for them to succeed with him. If Goff do something like lead them on a mean playoff run, then hell, he earned every penny anyway:russ:

Our ability to get better picks is directly proportional to his ability to lead the Rams. Us getting the better of the trade = better draft picks.
Good players are found at all draft positions in all rounds. Picking 23 or 27 don’t matter if your gm is finding players

there’s always A winner and loser in a trade. This is no different.
Sir u said if the rams don’t get to the super bowl the lions win the trade. How when the goal is for the lions to turn the rams picks into good players. If the rams flame out and the lions draft bust who won? You sound like u would be happy cause stafford failed and don’t even care about the picks.

lions fans gotta let it go stafford is gone stop

Sun God/St. Brown is WR1. At the very least, he has every bit of potential to be.

An outside threat to complement him would be ideal, and if a monster of one happens to fall, sure, take him.

Detroit needs a ton of defensive help though.
You can not proclaim
Somebody a #1 receiver after 6 good games once the season was over. He had a nice rookie season but calm down.

People said the Lions fans that said Stafford isn't that guy were wrong. So far those fans have been proven right.

In this very moment, he's their best/most reliable pass-catcher at the WR position. So, he is WR1 for Detroit, almost by default (which is the same thing people said when he was drafted and why I thought he'd win OROY) but he's since produced enough to back up the sentiment. What WR are you taking from their team above him?

If they go get a better guy? So be it. Until they do, he's the best receiver on their team, and it took him catching that game-winner vs. Minnesota to cap his "breakout" game for Detroit to realize it.

Jaylen Waddle -- who a lot of people believe is Miami's WR1, and I'd agree -- had at least five targets in all but one of his games. I'm not saying St. Brown is better than Waddle or will be better than Waddle, but that kid had less than five targets in five games played and this stretch showed what he's capable of if he gets the opportunites. If he gets the same looks that Waddle got, he sets the record for most catches by a rookie in a year.

What are you talking about. You’re in here projecting your feelings onto other people. If they don’t make the Super Bowl we get better picks. If the rams lose in the first round we get a better pick. If the rams loose in the first round we win the trade.

Next you’re gonna pretend like you wouldn’t want the rams pick to fall in the teens if it were possible cuz you can draft a good player anywhere. You wouldn’t take one of the jets picks in the top 10 cuz you can draft a good player anywhere. :mjlol: Miss me with that fake deep shyt.

You sound like the ex that didn’t want to end the relationship.

Ain’t nothin deep about what i said. You have to get good players to win the trade. Dont matter if the pick is #2 or #22. That’s all i said. Proclaiming they can win the trade before ever even drafting a player is dumb to say.

I’m this very moment the lions stink. Talkin about targets or whatever you yapping about is pointless. A #1 receiver is not made in 6 games.

ok pretend they don’t do trade winners and losers immediately and then revisit the trade a season or 2 later. Never been done in trade history. Never seen trade grades immediately after a trade. Yeah, I’m tripping :skip:

St Brown is more of a slot receiver than a #1. We need someone bigger and faster on the outside, and there are a lot of guys who we can get with that second 1st round pick. Chris Olave and Drake London come to mind.

Jameson Williams could also fall due to the injury in the championship game. He’s top 15 talent and if he falls to the second round I wouldn’t mind taking him at all. That way our two 1st rounders can go towards defense. Lots of possibilities depending on how things play out. Basically my view of needs:

DE (Thibs hopefully)
LB (multiple)
WR
S
TE

He's their #1 because in this moment, they don't have anybody better than him. If they sign or draft someone better than him, he won't be their #1.

Targets matter to a degree when determining who the catalyst/focal point of a passing attack is, but it isn't end-all be-all.
