And passed on Herbert. It's not about making the first pick, but the right pick. Okudah just turned out to be a bad pick:manny:
They wanted Chase Young though. They accepted Okudah because Washington took him. Herbert wasn't an option then. Tua went higher and they didn't even consider him due to Stafford.

There isn’t a chase young in this draft from that position .

Hutchinson and Thibs are slated to go #1 purely on positional value .

You can drop down to 3-4 and end up with A player just as good,if not better on the defensive side of the ball.

That's the whole point. Making the right pick. Herbert would have been the right pick, but the prior regime couldn't see that. Hopefully this one can make the the right one that has a major positive impact on the roster.

You're talking hypothetical picks that weren't even under consideration. I'm talking about what they actually wanted vs what they got because they tied a game and fell to 3rd instead of 2nd.

Whether you pick 1 or 2 this year, you get a potentially elite pass rusher. I'm not mad about that. Now if we end up with another win or more than sure I'd be concerned, but even then...we have two first round picks lol. A total of 5 picks in the first 100 picks of the draft. There's a chance here to really build something special through the draft, plus we have a lot of FA money. And I believe in Holmes 100%. Let's go.

Last draft turned out to be damn good. Potentially elite o-lineman in Sewell. Two DTs who have played well and gotten a lot of snaps. Not great overall, but they've been solid. And I think next year they're going to look either better when you have Thibs or Hutchinson on one end, and Okwara on the othe as DEs. St Brown looks like a legit slot receiver. Barnes looks like a legit LB for once in Detroit. Even that last round RB looks like a solid depth dude. You can legit see this offense can be good and set up for a rookie QB to thrive AFTER next season.

This upcoming draft, offense wise, you def gotta get a WR early and we need a TE to either replace or compliment Hock. Hard to imagine Hock deciding to stay here when someone will pay him more and offer the opportunity to win.
