Why not? What Democrat has spoken directly to them since Obama in 08? He had NC, Ohio, Florida, and Indiana blue by speaking to what they want to hear. Now I may be naive, but I don't think we've tried it since 08. Can't hurt to try again.

Times were different. 2008 was the middle of the Iraq War and the GOP was unpopular. Any Dem would've won.

It's 2022 and the GOP is almost entirely MAGA and devoted to Trump. Unless you're going speak "directly" to them by shytting on minorities, those voters are not voting blue.

Blame one another instead of using the house, senate, and white house to do the things that the majority of people voted them in to do :ehh:

As long as Manchin and Sinema are there, the Dems don't really have the Senate.

Also, the more realistic mechanism to change is to change to Democratic Party instead of naively hoping for a 3rd party. And it's been working to some extent. Bernie was way more popular in 2016 than most people imagined, and he was even more popular in 2020. Nobody thought he'd be a threat to the establishment, and he actually was.

enough. this about rbg not leaving and not anything to do with parties

It's not just about rbg not leaving, the GOP base is becoming more extreme by the day

The political ideology impacts the judicial appointments

You mention RBG, but the truth is Merrick Garland would have bought balance to the bench with 4 conservatives, 4 liberals, and 1 moderate

GOP didn't want balance

dems need to form like voltron and make them get down or lay down

but they lack the common sense to do so

years ago i read an article about how even though white women are the biggest beneficiaries of affirmative action they wanted it gone because they felt it harmed their sons, husbands and fathers. i was never under any illusion who white women prioritized. nothing wrong with that, because it's actually quite motherly, but i hope their non-white allies knew their priorities though because they weren't it.
that's crazy. People don't even understand affirmative action. So many people think it means that someone less qualified gets the job, which isn't remotely true. Obviously you know this, but just last year I explained to someone that all it means is that if two equally qualified people turn in the application, that consideration is made for the extra deficits that the white person didn't have to deal with in life.

It frustrates me that so many people don't even understand how it's supposed to work

IMO the only way to really move people is to improve their lives. People will be less moved by culture war nonsense and fear mongering if their lives are improved. We need more candidates on the left that run on Medicare For All, legalizing marjiuana and not locking up non violent offenders, student loan reform, green new deal, etc.

:martin: Articulate your point, nikka. The CRA is law. Tell me how a lawyer would argue that a party has been harmed by it to the point it should be called unconstitutional or that government should be allowed to discriminate on the basis of race and sex or allow race and sex discrimination within their borders.
I don’t need to articulate anything. Fascists are taking over and will be doing fascist activity’s because they own the courts and will be owning the government. They don’t play by the rules. The reasons democrats lose is because they think like you do about this.

They’re sitting there saying “hey this is law” while Republican legislatures are throwing that shyt out with the court systems blessing

That was Bernie's strategy. To be a class reductionist...Don't seem to remember him carrying the working class in his runs for President.

Remember that he's the one who also said "abortion" was a distraction from the real issues (material).

Gays are up next. Alito specifically mentioned that ruling in his writing
Yep. Gay marriage is definitely next up.

And I honestly think if they could get away with throwing interracial marriage and civil rights back to the "state's rights" then they'd do that too.

This is something I probably would've said in 2008. Maybe I've gotten cynical since then but I just don't see this type of stuff moving the needle for many people that aren't already for it. Lots of people who benefited from Obamacare still voted against it, because they watch clips on FOX News of black people also benefiting and they don't like that. :yeshrug:

Don't get me wrong I'm for all that stuff, it just seems like culture war shyt is always going to be a priority in most people's minds. Maybe I just have a low opinion of American voters.
