Breh, I’m just being honest! I think some of y’all prisoners of the moment. This album production might actually be my least favorite Alchemist produced joint in a long while. Y’all wilding if you say this production better than then Bo Jackson joints, Curren$y joints, or TT4…

This is tailor made for Roc Marci tho, and it works for his style. I don't think the production on those other albums necessarily would have worked for Roc, unless he switched his style up. Just as Currency wouldn't fit on an entire album with Bo Jackson beats, or Benny on Continuance beats.

Been listening to this in my car for a few days. It's some dope stuff on here like Quantum Leap and Zip Guns, and nothing on here is outright bad and Roc is definitely spitting. But I find myself losing interest halfway through some of the songs. Think it could have benefitted from more concepts, storytelling, or just more unexpected guest features like the song with Ice T. Just to break things up a bit.

Also, to me the beats sound clean but Roc's vocals sound muddy? I'm not a sound expert but I feel like I've never had to strain to hear what Roc was saying, even on his albums people say are mixed poorly.

As far as rap - Off top

Apollo Brown - this must be the place
JID - The Never Ending Story
Elzhi - Zhigeist
Pete Rock - Petestrumentals 4
MC Eiht - Revolution In Progress
Black Thought- Cheat Codes
Back in Black by Cypress Hill
I’ve only heard Zhigest and part of Black Thoughts album. I disagree with Elzhi.
I wouldn’t even put an instrumental album in this category.

I'll sub Pete with Tekbeatz/Kese Soprano - "Worst Case" to keep it lyrical, that was right outside my list. Without trying hard I wouldn't put anything else over this particular Alch joint.

Yep. That’s why he’s a dope producer. At the risk of being stating the obvious, he’s a producer first and a beat maker second. His projects with artists aren’t beat tapes with vocals on them. Benny’s a super street rapper and those beats on TT4 are super hard and aggressive street joints. Currensy is a lifestyle rapper and those beats on Continuance are smokey, cool, and vibrant. Roc is on some slick hitman pimp shyt, known for quirky unorthodox flows, and the production on Elephant matches that aesthetic.

His voice starting sounding more muddy when he started rapping with his grill in. He sounds cleaner on here than Mt Marci I think, but not as clear as it used to be

Agreed. I don’t think the production on those albums would’ve worked as well for Roc. Between the Bo albums, TT4, and Continuance, I think Roc would probably sound best over Continuance.
