I think Al has an argument based on consistency, but I do think that there's a bunch of producers who, in their primes, are far superior to Alc.

Rza, Havoc, Dre etc.

Dre and RZA are definitely above ALC….Havoc would have ALC’s position in my top 5 but he doesn’t have the quantity in terms of body of work to trade off against a fall off in longevity like RZA does to justify a spot in the top 5.

If Hav had 5 fully produced albums on the level of Infamous and HOE he’s easily top 3 behind RZA and Dre.

Havoc fully produced (for the most part) The Infamous, Hell On Earth & Murda Muzik. He’s above Alchemist

There’s some similarity in their sounds, style, same use. It’s not an apples to apples comp of course. 4th disciple is much more comparable sonically to RZA.

Output-wise, Alc blows most out of the water
I think sonically ALC is closer to RZA than people would like to admit because he came up under Muggs and Primo - no way you can’t tell this don’t sound like a Wu beat:

Sounds like something 4th would’ve produced for Killarmy on Silent Weapons for Quiets Wars.

Read my post properly - I said if he had 5 albums produced on the level Infamous and HOE (which he produced) he’s in the mix.

Murda Muzik is not the level of Infamous and HOE.

Joey Bada$$ new album 2000 production far superior as well…
Can’t cosign that all :hubie:
I need to give the Joey album a few more spins to be sure, but it definitely didn’t grab me as something epic on first spin.

NY all day..Da Stead & BK..
If you think the production on this album is the best produced shyt this year maybe you’re just a Roc dikkrider :why:
Not at all. When I think of best produced I think of the mesh between the artist and the beats and the overall feel of the album. Ain’t shyt this year so far grab me the same way as this. Not sayin it wasn’t no dope shyt this year.

Alchemist doesn’t even have one full album at the level of The Infamous or Hell On Earth let alone Murda Muzik LOL

Definitely sounds like Wu Forever era/late 90s RZA and 4th Disciple late 90s.

Imo, RZA’s prime was ‘95 (return to the 36 chambers, OB4CL, LS), and Alc’s sound is typically more refined/less dusty, as RZA and 4th’s sound later became in ‘97 and after.

nikka listing damn near every underground hip hop album this year as better produced. Lol
Breh, I’m just being honest! I think some of y’all prisoners of the moment. This album production might actually be my least favorite Alchemist produced joint in a long while. Y’all wilding if you say this production better than then Bo Jackson joints, Curren$y joints, or TT4…
