Its got nothing to do with his association with black culture. Most people didn't even know his wife was black/biracial, and its not like she's the brownest thing out there. The naked women music video, the openly cheating, the drugs, etc. was off putting.

For a career standpoint, it would not do him any good to not have more black/mixed race girlfriends. Black people bought his records and was his base. He might be able to come out with some more crossover hits that will have some white people buying on iTunes, but he'll never have white supporters.

:wtf:

who the hell do you think is buying his music

Not to pull your card...but you know Thicke has never sold over GOLD right?

he always hovered around that. he was never a "white" act.

he was solidly R&B and had a mostly black following.

marry white men thinking they will be more faithful to you than black men brehettes
:dahell:And what makes you assume that's what Paula thought? Paula didn't even want to date Robin in the beginning because he was white! She didn't invite him to school prom because she was embarrassed. She's probably mostly into black guys. Robin was an exception.

Career move. I think having a non-white wife, that would be considered black, has kept him in a certain lane to some extent....from a societal standpoint.

Now, as a single white male, he can play more of a Justin Timberlake lane...white guy who makes blackish music but still retains his "whiteness" so to speak.

Take a look at Justin Timberlake. He can make all types of RnB songs and work with nothing but black artists. But he still has a white wife, which keeps him in the spectrum of middle-class white American ideals....which strengthens his popularity, record sales and sponsorships. I'm sure Justin had more than a few black chicks wanting to be his girlfriend/wife, but he knew that would cause a negative impact to his overall brand....even if he may have been interested.

Peace

He cannot suddenly take the Justin Timberlake turn, especially not at this point. Justin is primarily a pop star; sure he has R&B/hip hop influences, but he makes pop music. Robin was a non mainstream artist that made authentic R&B, which is why he didn't cross over until the Pharrell song (whose productions appeals to both black and whites). He publicly prided himself in this role. 2) He is not nearly as likeable to make such a U-turn move.

Also, Timberlake is from the south. Dating and having black girlfriends is okay, but marrying and starting a family with a black woman would be frowned upon. The only exceptions would be if the woman was an A-list celebrity like Beyonce, Halle Berry or Janet Jackson. I actually do not think him marrying a black girl would have affected his career in the least. For one, he's a "he can do no wrong" media darling. If anything, the powers that be of Hollywood would praise him even more. Also, his white female fan-base isn't immature and bigoted like say, Justin Bieber's. In fact I've seen quite a few white people on twitter wondering why he didn't. So generally speaking they're cool with it.

his last 3 albums all were top 10 on the billboard chart, the whole "white" act is :snoop:, whites buy r&b more than blacks and it has always been that way. Its the same as the nba, nikkas left and righ t watch the nba, but the arenas are filled every night with whites

take a look at his previous tours and look at the cities he played in, it wasn't harlem nyc at the apollo, it wasnt south side chicago
