"Road House" | Prime Video | March 21st 2024 | Jake Gyllenhall vs Connor McGregor

This was basically a Jason Statham movie with Road House name slapped on to it for marketing purposes. Based on that metric it was a fun beat 'em up action movie.

Although this was an old fashion action movie McGregor was the only one with the cheesy 80s action movie acting. shyt was jarring to watch, my guess is that his regular acting was hot garbage so they probably just told him to ham it up all the way. Don't know if Jake Gyllenhaal had a tougher time acting with Conor or doing promo with him

Also Conor just doesn't have the height and stature for this role, no matter how much steroids he juiced himself with. If they wanted a coked up villain Jon Jones would've made much more sense. Even in the one on one fight with Jake they had to use weird camera angles to make Conor look more intimidating.

Making Dalton a former UFC fighter instead of a bouncer was a dumb choice on their part.

They should have dialed down Jake's juice, he was looking like the real former UFC fighter in there

Oh yeah Jake was definitely on that Vitor Belfort second prime stack

But looking back it's hilarious that UFC broke off their partnership with USADA so Conor could put in a worse acting performance than Rodman in Double Team.

It's also hilarious that Ronda Rousey was originally supposed to star in Road House when she was at her peak.

Conner was walking around the whole movie with the Vince McMahon strut had me dying.

He was so over the top and goofy, I couldn't really take him as a real threat but the rest of the movie was cool.

I honestly don't remember it but it's Swayze so 7.3/10 off whatever memory I had or nostalgia. I may have to rewatch but it's not up there with his best fliqs like Ghost, Dirty Dancing or 3 wishes.

Watched this earlier Monday

I definitely wasn't paying enough attention to this movie over the last few months. I deadass thought McGregor was playing himself and was gonna lead to Gyllenhaal vs McGregor at the end in an octagon
