Is it close to a million buys?
let's say the fight did 875k for sake of argument...if the fight needs 1 million to be profitable for the company, you dont think that extra loss of 9.4 million dollars effects the bottomline for the company (Showtime)?
Read between the lines scrappy.
They only officially announced the PPV buys of 1 out of 4 fights since he's signed there....Floyd vs Canelo. It was also the only fight Floyd has had, while being signed to Showtime, that the projected figure was over 1 million.
In contrast, on HBO, his last 4 fights were at 1.06 vs JMM, 1.4 vs Mosley, 1.25 vs Ortiz, and 1.5 vs Cotto
Do you really think Showtime came out of pocket with that large of a number (6 fights, minimum 200 million total) to give to a fighter who averaged 1.3 million views over his last 4 bouts, just for him to put up less than 1 million buys in 75% of the fights on their network?
I dont, so I believe it when I hear the journalists make the statement that Showtime is disappointed with the buys under 1 million.
Again, they have their sources as well. You can take it with a grain of salt, but the info and the numbers are there to look at.
Ask yourself why Showtime is refusing to release official PPV numbers...and then get back to me.
