Pretty much, it looks like with the studios they have no idea what "direction" or "tone" they want for these comic book films until the director starts bringing in their own vision and ideas for the film. It's why Marvel is constantly using lesser know directors.

You could say that before but Marvel stepped up their directing game Ryan Coogler and Taika Waititi aren't lightweights, especially compared to Rick Famuywia.

Taika looks like he's going to work, and coogler is far too early in process. The thing is, feige and co. dictate what the vision is for these movies are.

They have criteria and parameters that speak to where they want to take the characters and the universe in a given movie and directors just have to be creative within that space, which is smart so you don't get mix ups like this.

I think 'dictate what the vision' is a bit stronger than what they are doing which is 'giving parameters'. Anyway, I was originally commenting on how well known the directors were. Marvel more recently is picking more established directors not lesser known ones like you said earlier.

This is how to get fired and the studio goes Bankrupt. WB's main cash cows are DC, Harry Potter and Lego. They're not going to just stop and pack up, too much money on the line.

I do wonder what exactly were those "creative differences" that kept Ava from directing Black Panther.

If I were to guess blockbuster type norms and tropes would probably be an affront to someone like her. While I think they will go more serious than the average Marvel movie it will have some things Feige deems necessary to make tons of $.

Hearing that Rick wanted to do a more political Flash movie that dealt with race issues. I can see the problem

I would save that type of movie after they get things off and running 1st
