All the sports are that way now. Those diamonds in the rough, from a disadvantaged family are rare. Plus with all the specialized training and trainers you can develop into something instead of just being naturally gifted. And truth be told, it's how the rest of the world been doing it. But in alot of the countries its government sponsored. They have kids a very young ages already designated and that becomes their life.

Better to reign in Hell than serve in Heaven
What happened to Europeans are taking over the NBA? America is in trouble, AAU culture, no fundamentals, etc…

Luka failed in the Finals so I guess it’s back to the drawing board. :lolbron:

Now the new narrative is “what happened to the trench babies?” Even though those trench babies are literally the AAU culture that you claim is killing American basketball.

Oh, and isn’t Kobe one of your GOATs? Cuz he was a rich kid with an ex-NBA player dad.

Been a tough year for ‘90s nikkas.
Name the top players in the NBA right now... Bet a high percentage of the top from overseas (Luka, Greek Freak, Embiid, Jokic, Shai, etc). Then look at how young they all are.

Young American black ballers is Anthony Edwards, Tatum and Brown and that's about it... Even they needed Porzingas.. Gobert DPOY, etc etc

It's only going to get worse cause they, like rich americans, don't have a money barrier to playing ball. If you good, they'll get you played... In America, you have to be fukking amazing to get someone to sponsor you, and then why they not just sponsoring their own kid/kids? Cause with enough elite training, they'll be better than one of us cause they gonna train 8 hours a day from 2nd grade

America is really showing the income gap and it's only going to get worse in every aspect of the country.. Just wait till Trump gets in and fukks it up even more

Above the fray.
I mean, kinda

Nowadays even if you are kinda nice off natural talent, by the time your 14/15 you have been completely outclassed by these AAU circuit kids already because they've been training and practicing around the clock so you aren't even good enough to look like you have a chance

The best shot you got if you haven't been in the circuit is if you hit a crazy growth spurt and end up 6'4" and up by the time you 15

Guys with talent who play organized ball will get looks from college programs. AAU circuit dudes will be more visible for the major programs, but there are hundreds of college teams and they all have rosters to fill.
.Would agree with you that the circuit guys might be further along in development than high school guys who practice and play locally. But development never stops, and the training and competition guys get in college against teammates, conference teams, rest of schedule, and post season tourneys brings the unheralded guys up to speed after a certain point.

I was saying that the potential generational talent guys from the cities where ballers usually come from get sidetracked. Now more than ever.

Exact same thing happen to baseball... It's a big reason American soccer hasn't taken off as projected too, you need a lot of money for your kid to get all the access and amenities that others get. Rich people have a big advantage in life, and even in youth sports (this is the same for golf, lacrosse, and hockey too, the amount of money to do the AAU/Premier lifestyle is enormous)
Yes. This was always one of the beauty of basketball was the low level of entry compared to other sports.
As the amount of money involved in sports just keeps growing, the competition is stiffer and kids with money and access to better training nutrition coaching and facilities have a decidedly superior edge. This is I guess inevitable as the sport matures.

Right, I agree but just saying that I think the reason they get sidetracked is because of the fact that they are being overshadowed by circuit guys. The kid from the hood is kinda nice but they aren't "the one" anymore because everybody their age knows that they not as nice as the AAU circuit kid whose been ranked on ESPN 100 or whatever

And to your credit they might get to that AAU circuit kid's level but by then they might've already given up or crashed out

Shai and Embiid are not foreign players. They both played in NCAA. If you include them as forgeiners then most of the best players of the ‘90s and 2000s were also foreigners.

Hakeem is from Nigerian and Ewing is from Jamaica. That means the two best centers of the ‘90s were foreign.

Dikembe also won 4 DPOYs just like Gobert. So the best defender of the ‘90s was also foreign.

If Tatum and Brown needed Porzingis, then MJ needed Kukoc. Shaq and Kobe needed Rick Fox (Canadian).

Duncan is from the Virgin Islands, Nash is from Canada, Dirk is from Germany. That means 5 of 10 MVPs of the 2000s were foreigners. The Spurs won 4 titles with all foreigners. And Kobe also needed Pau.

Sounds like the ‘90s and 2000s were even more dominated by foreigners than today. :manny:
