Nah Achilles was toying with him the entire time. He wanted the “illusion” of an epic fight so that he could have his “Glory”
I disagree respectfully. Achilles was enraged that Hector killed his cousin. He went out to the city by himself, in front of all of Troy, and demanded for the crown prince to come down to die like the archers couldn’t have shot a thousand arrows at him. He was hot and was trying to kill Hector immediately. And if you watch the fight, Achilles tried that jumping sword move he used on a few people in the movie but Hector swatted it off. So yea, he trying to end it early but he couldn’t. Plus Achilles was not the type to lie. He was raining Ether down on every character he spoke to in the movie. He wouldn’t have said Hector was the best person he ever fought if he didn’t mean it. Also keep in mind, even though it was incorrect based on what happened in the Iliad, Hector fought and defeated Ajax, a 7 ft tall giant a few days before. So they were trying to show Hector was the best of all the Trojans.
I empathize with Hector more because he was a noble man trying to protect his city and his family. He would’ve been a good king. And he was strong enough to go rounds with Achilles who had to break out a lot more moves in the fight compared to others Achilles had fought which suggests Hector really was the best he’d ever met. But that was what separated the two. Hector could keep up with Achilles when it came to conventional sword fighting but once Achilles started breaking out the various athletic moves he had, he couldnt keep up anymore and he didn’t even see Achilles setting him up for that last blow
The movie is kinda trash but Brad and his sword / fight scenes made up for it. This is one of the most epic sword scene ive ever seen. swagger was thru the roof.
Swagger on a hundred thousand. Priam knew he was sending his son to die
