if you knew the alien franchise you should know why they were that stupid.
they mechanically were tested to be that dumb and make mistakes.

medi-space health chamber in sci-fi:

ever since at least startrek, if you go in a pod to get health medi attention.

you supposedly are always healthy enough to be active after that. as the medi chambers imply an advamcemwnt in human surgery healing/health.

also,..female caesarian patients even now,.. go home after the procedure.
so you overthought or did not know the background on sci fi movies and medichambers.

Dumb and making mistakes is one thing...
Taking off helmets and things like that in an unknown environment is another level of stupidity that the word "dumb" doesn't even address...

You must've skipped over the part where I said I could buy into the part where the alien was taken out due to adrenaline (not the same theory as yours but definitely not a point in the movie I was pointing out as unbelievable/dumb)...

And I am sure I'm not as educated about sci-fi as you Mr Barr, but I can accurately point out dumb ass stuff in a movie...

you don't get it!
weiland corp purposefully hires misfits.
people more susceptible to not being missed for being a host.
so them being that ignorant is a character flaw.

it is also why charlize therzon's character. really only fukks with idris elba, too.

as she knows he is just black and the more astute personality on the whole starship.

weiland corp is a punk ass monopoly with layers to their meglomania.
you would have to kinda be into the series to pick it up.

weiland is not there for space exploration like the scientist are lead to believe.
he hired them to be expendable and host for him to secure xeno's, for trade and profit.

nothing more, nothing less.....
this is the only mpvie where he finally was going to return or use the engineer's secrets to regain his youth. so that is why he actually was on the ship. the crew did not even know he was there till after it was confirmed it was the spot they were looking for.

they actually need to do a movie on weiland more than anything else.

props for the break down homie I had to stop in the middle of your post when u started to talk about alien 3 and....just made it up to part 3

personally you don't even need to watch part aliens three or four.

[watch part four if you happen to fall in love with the series. other than that skip all together. as it was just a contractual obligation for ripley and i believe a fincher flick. which was a waste of david fincher's talents before fincher got creative control on his flicks]

they ruin the franchise, ripley as a heroine's mystique and draw and divert continuity to far away from home base or quality.

after alien and aliens, you should look at;

aliens versus predator with sanaa lathan

then watch the last robert rodriguez alien versus predator.

if you can,...the best alien's movie in the entire series is the director's cut aliens. that has newt's backstory. plus what exactly happened on the heap'n rock and outpost that the xeno's rampaged in aliens.
i know it exists on vhs,..but i am not sure if it was ever transfered to dvd.

I'm into the Alien thing, but def not to that level...
If what you say is right, hell they should've done the movie on Weiland Corp...
At least it would explain the stuff I labeled as dumb...

Even you gotta admit, without the background knowledge/insight, those scenes are dumb given the supposed knowledge level and careers of the crew (not necessarily the caesarian)...
Explained in the proper context, you can make sense out of it, but without that, it's dumb...

Preciate the knowledge, handshake...

i guess since this gen and the past gen never really had sci-fi.

you could say this movie is not meant for them.
just like star wars prequels was kinda not meant for the last two gens.
back in the day, when i was a kid.

alien, terminator was like the grown up sci fi flicks.
your mom told you not to watch.
then you snuck and saw them anyway and got the shyt scared out of you.
plus realized you had no friends in outer space.
as even the droid was an evil villain. unlike r2 and three pee-oh.
i still remember the queen showing up the first time vividly.
the get away from her you bytch line.
plus being as scared but learning to be valiant because of newt.
kitty hiss'n at the alien. plus being like one of the only relateable survivors and characters.
the knife exhibition with the droid. [the whole lunch room scenary in prometheus is a lift off of those original lunch room scenes entirely. except this time the crew and weiland corp workers have no idea about social interaction with a droid. as this is like an early mission and the droid. is just learning social human integration. by alien, weiland droids were already hiding amoung the crew like normal humans. unless, it broke kayfabe to establish some social dominance like the one in previous alien flicks. who knew about the double cross already. so he had kinda an ego, and did not give a fukk. so, he swag surfed on the crew, a bit. the droid in aliens was humanized and written with advanced emotion. so he attached to ripley, and made ripley susceptible to let her guard down concerning weiland droids].

the weiland droid is always like the central premise of any alien movie.

which is why in my prometheus rant,..
i say don't trust that punk ass droid.

just like jada is one of the best all tiMe zombie heroines with naomi harris.

sanaa is the next best heroine all time in a creature feature.
second only to ripley,...and still in a class above even riddikk and caviezal in outlander for creature features.
she is excellent in that film.
totally embodies a ripley like character, but more resourceful with edge.
while still being soft like ripley in the first one.
to being malleable and evolving to kick ass like ripley in aliens.

all in one flick,....
you will like how sanaa's characrer gets down in that!!
one of the best all time creature feature hof characters, EVER!!

i am glad i know that, now.

imma cop that dual pack.
the director's cut of aliens is the best in the series.
it is pretty much avatar before avatar.
it is where avatar lifts everything about avatar from and updates it.
of course with the avatars and the native wildlife lifeforms to make it differ.
other than that,....avatar is pretty much james cameron makes his own aliens franchise, made in the 2000's.

which is probably what made them green light prometheus.
when they saw the receipts/profits to avatar.

Blu-ray Sales, October 8-14: Prometheus Breaks The Avengers' Revenue Share Record

For the week ending on October 14th, Twentieth Century Fox's Prometheus dominated both the overall package media and Blu-ray-only sales charts. After months of pre-release hype, the Alien prequel debuted last June to divisive critical reactions and mostly enthusiastic box-office totals; to date, the film has amassed a worldwide gross of over $402 million on top of its estimated $130 million production budget. In some ways, though, this Blu-ray premiere was even more impressive - not only did Prometheus' sales totals top other home media competitors, but it garnered an HD market share of 76%, which bested the record Blu-ray market share of 72% that The Avengers enjoyed during its first week on the small screen.

While The Avengers saw its market share and overall revenue figures drop in the wake of Prometheus, the film still maintained a foothold in the Blu-ray-only and overall package media charts at position number two. The mega-blockbuster sold 27% as many Blu-ray copies as Prometheus and 40% as many total units, and its HD market share stayed high at 51%. Despite coming in second, The Avengers is expected to remain a fixture in home media sales; the continued popularity of its predecessors Thor and Captain America: The First Avenger certainly works in the film's favor.

Finally, third place is split between the HD and total media rankings. When considering Blu-rays only, Disney's 1950 classic Cinderella came in third; the animated favorite sold 24% as many HD units as Prometheus and had a Blu-ray market share of 100%. However, in overall units, a new release beat the Disney favorite: Warner Bros' star-studded musical Rock of Ages. Rock of Ages sold 29% as total units as Prometheus, and its HD market share was 36%.

:wtb:

please. there's a difference between a great movie that makes u think, and a so-so movie that doesnt do its job connecting the dots that prompt analytical thought (but has enough pretty lights to make people connect the dots on their own).

did u NEED to do homework after watching 2001 to understand the themes being presented?

forcing someone to do research to make sense of all the missing parts in ur flick? :trash:
that is the funnest parts about sci-fi movies. prometheus, looper, inception, we all had pages and pages full of discussion and theory.
