I hate when you do this. It makes it hard to quote your text, and I gotta do extra just to reply to nonsense.

But yes, Bill Clinton used the word without the intent to demean. Does that mean it's not a slur? Of course not. Just like when blacks use the n-word without the intent to invoke years of oppression. The context behind the words use matters, and it can be used as a slur, as you've just admitted.

So saying the word cac alone does not make me a racist, but saying cac while hating white people would be racist?

I don't live in any bubble. I'm not an employee though, so I don't have to worry about any I that. I have had white associates and I've never had a 1 of them complain about being called a cracker. The Internet is the only place that I've ever heard whites whine about being called crackers.

Wow. Okay then. Where do you live?

And I don't think I'm being too sensitive. I can empathize with having a racial slur used against me. If racist white people made up a completely new word, without any historical baggage as you seem hung up on, and started referring to blacks instead of the n-word, then I'd have a problem with that as well. You wouldn't?

Yes. :shaq2:

This is an informal online message board. There are plenty of things we ALL say here that wouldn't be appropriate in a professional setting. But in a relaxed setting with white friends I have used the word cracker and they where not offended, in fact one of my best friends and business partner is white and he and I stay calling people crackers. The word cracker alone is not racist. The intensions behind the word can be.

A good comparison is the word "boy" we could use the word all day and it not be racist. But in a certain context the word can be very racist and the user could be racist for saying it in that context.

I agree. But let's not kid ourselves and say that word/phrase has not been used to belittle white people, and it's not a slur.

Hey, you can say whatever you'd like. But I just thought it was strange how certain slurs were straight up censored and others weren't (particularly on SOHH...idk how COLI runs things).

First they have already came up with another word "urban" but anyway

Bolded is the key. No matter what word they use they are still racist white people. You guys are trying to say the use of the word cac automaticaly makes a person a racist. If my white freinds where to take this new racist word and use it. I wouldn't have a problem as long as they didn't mean any Ill will. It would probably be funny as we laugh at the racist white people who thought they where doing something by creating a new term

Yup. And that always gets the :wtb: face

No, I'm not saying that. I'm saying there are people IRL and on here that use it in a racist way. Either they are actually racist (some are), or doin it for the lulz. If the latter is true, then why shouldn't white posters be able to say a slur for blacks? We know they're just trollin anyway. I just wanna know the answer as far as admins are concerned.

:ohhh: well this is what we where trying to say. The word itself is not racist, but context could make it racist.

Are you white? If so tell the other dude you agree with us. Cause he seems to think the word itself is racist.

Yeah we all agree that the context is what matters... which is what I've been saying. The context of the n-word matters too, right?

I'm black. Which dude, and why do you think he thinks that?

White posters do use racial slurs all the time. Half the people on here calling each other nikkas are probably white.

The reason it is frowned upon to say nikka is because all of the emotional baggage the word entails. Its not even about how i think you feel about me personally. But by saying the word without caution, you are disrespecting my entire existence going back hundreds of years. nikka is a very unique word in that it envokes so manny different feelings and emotions in so many different people. So we should ALL use it with respect.

And the dude I was talking about is theworldismine

Its amazing to me how dumb some of you are. The term "black" can be used as a slur if used in a negative context, but "black" is not a racial slur on its own. What's so hard to understand about that? Clinton didnt use the term in any special kind of way, he used it to reference white people, specifically from the south. The term in and of itself is not a racial slur. How stupid do you have to be to not understand that? The only way that it can be used as a slur is if it is used in a negative context. Simply referring to white people as crackers(like Clinton did in that quote) is not racist.

Cracker has many definitions. As a racial slur is one of them. You do realize words can have several definitions, right? Clinton didn't specifically use it in that context, but that doesn't mean someone like Malcolm didn't.

No, I wouldnt have a problem with some made up BS word. You need to get some self esteem if someone can just make up a word that hurts your feelings. You're tryin to make a false equivalence anyway, cracker is not a term that non-whites just made up to reference white people. Cracker is a term that whites made up themselves to refer to other white people.

Cracker has many definitions. As a racial slur is one of them. You do realize words can have several definitions, right? Clinton didn't specifically use it in that context, but that doesn't mean someone like Malcolm didn't.

And I'm the dumb one
You admit that the word is only an insult if it's used in a certain context(like any other noun or adjective), yet you insist upon acting like the word itself is racist. Again genius, the word itself is not racist it's just a term that references white people. It's only an insult when used in a negative context. There is no context for a white person to use the word ****** in reference to black people that stops it from being an insult because of the history of racism associated with the term. Cracker has no such racist history associated with it, therefore it's not a racist term. You can't even define the term cracker, you don't even know the meaning of the term. You can't even define the term in the context that it's used on this site. All cac means here is white person. Since you disagree, what else does it mean? I can tell you exactly how ****** is defined and what non black people mean when they use it to reference black people. You cannot do that for cracker.

it's still a disparaging term the way Clinton used it. it's similar to "white trash"

my understanding is back in the day slave owning whites were able to live a rather bourgeois life style, and looked down on whites that actually had to work. in fact I think "poor white trash" was a term used by slaves to refer to those working class whites. "cracker", in my understanding, was a more localized (GA & FL) term for those same poor whites

that's the thing with these terms. when you used them, in many ways you are co-signing the various social hierarchies that existed in the south during slavery

Who wrote the dictionary? Do you not think that those people have agendas? I assume you dont read much, but have you at least seen the movie Malcolm X?

i dont think there is any agenda at all in the definition of racial slur, and cracker is obviously a racial slur, sure its not a as big a racial slur as ****** but its still a racial slur

and for the record i never said its wrong to say cracker, what i said is that its corny and racist

all the essays you are writing just exposed your pseudo black militancy, as a black person you dont need any excuse to call a white person, you can call a white person cracker just cuz you fuking feel like it

I don't live in any bubble. I'm not an employee though, so I don't have to worry about any I that. I have had white associates and I've never had a 1 of them complain about being called a cracker. The Internet is the only place that I've ever heard whites whine about being called crackers.

You and I pretty much agree, you just too sensitive on white people's behalf. There is no legit reason for whites to be insulted the term in and of itself. It's all about the context.

This is an informal online message board. There are plenty of things we ALL say here that wouldn't be appropriate in a professional setting. But in a relaxed setting with white friends I have used the word cracker and they where not offended, in fact one of my best friends and business partner is white and he and I stay calling people crackers. i actually find these stories hard to believe, maybe its some fantasy that yall have

but i will tell you this, if this is true or you fantasize about something like this its ok to call your buddy a cracker because you are a very non threatening buffoonish negro so they dont take you seriously, second what also likely happens or you fantasize about is that your white buddy also says nikka and yall laugh about it

which goes to my point that yall are just a bunch of russel-simmons-its-ok-for-paltrow-to-say-nikka type negros

you aint really about that life, if you where really about that life you would have a one sentence explanation as to why you call white people crackers

i dont think there is any agenda at all in the definition of racial slur, and cracker is obviously a racial slur, sure its not a as big a racial slur as ****** but its still a racial slurOf course you dont see the agenda, youre a closeminded idiot. There is certainly an agenda in trying to define the term cracker as a racist slur. Whites use terms like "reverse racism" as tools of deflection. Trying to make the term cracker a racial slur and equating it with ******, is a way to deflect from the institution of white supremacy. It's a way to reduce racism to nothing but petty name calling which distracts you from seeing the real picture. They don't want you to care about history, they want you to remain ignorant. They count on idiots like you believing something without questioning it just because they said so. The only reason that you believe that cracker is a racial slur is because the white man told that it was, and you don't have the guts or intellect to question him.

and for the record i never said its wrong to say cracker, what i said is that its corny and racistYet you can't explain why it's racist. The best explanation that you have produced for the term being racist is "I don't know the history of the word, I just know that everybody thinks that it's racist." The funny thing is that you don't even realize how stupid you look, ignorance truly is bliss.

all the essays you are writing just exposed your pseudo black militancy, as a black person you dont need any excuse to call a white person, you can call a white person cracker just cuz you fuking feel like itI haven't made one excuse for calling white people crackers. I use it as slang because I feel like it. My posts aren't excusing the fact that I say cracker, they're supporting the fact that the term is not racist. You're extremely slow.

i actually find these stories hard to believe

which goes to my point that yall are just a bunch of russel-simmons-its-ok-for-paltrow-to-say-nikka type negrosSave your sub-80 IQ psychoanalysis. This isn't hyperbole, you're one of the dumbest people I've engaged in awhile.

you aint really about that life, if you where really about that life you would have a one sentence explanation as to why you call white people crackersThis is an example of your stupidity, just to show that I'm not just insulting you. My posts aren't an explanation for why I sometimes refer to whites as crackers, they're an explanation for why the term itself isn't racist. You don't even comprehend the topic of debate, that's how stupid you are.
