49ers fans call me crazy, but does anyone else feel Manningham is borderline our best WR right now?

He is playing real well and is a threat even running the ball

I still think Crabtree is playing better than Manningham, but Mario is definitely our second best receiver.

it's inevitable that Kaep is gonna take over but harbs is doing the right thing working him in slowly. i still think that we can win a SB with alex as the starter but at the same time it's obvious that he won't be much better than what he is right now- an average at best QB.

it's like i said yesterday- the writing is on the wall. the offense has a chance to be very dynamic and explosive once Kaep is the starter.

Perhaps, and honestly I don't give a fukk if it means we win the SB, but if we don't then i`m not willing to risk it on the kid yet.

I also think a lot of people are overplayed this Kaep shyt, I doubt people remember how much Rex was clamoring over Kaepernick in the pre-season. I think maybe Harbaugh put him out there a bit as some teasing/possible trade down the road.

If Alex continues to progress and we win a ring with him there is no way he goes, also Kaep's value in a trade goes up when he is on the field like yesterday. This is making people notice Kaep and teams desperate for a QB might see him as their guy and we can rape them in a trade.

I`m not really putting too much into it one way or the other, just more of the 49ers philosophy of using all the weapons they have in their bag to win games and be more difficult to defend

As a pure WR, yea but it's not by much, neither has a TD and Crabs only has about 40 more yards but his game vs. Detroit was huge, so i`ll give him the nod too.

But Manningham running the ball is doing a lot right now, he is a great little x-factor and he's getting open (Alex missed him on Sunday, and he dropped one).

It's nice to have more than one option at WR

yea mario shifty and eats well on those reverses. cant wait till we get jenkins moss and kyle more involved.

can you imagine this run game if teams cant stack the box on us (essentially jets didnt really stack the box yesterday for some reason, kept playing safeties deep)

I`m very interested in Jenkins, I think Moss is what he is right now, this is the Moss we're gonna see for the whole year, no longer a real threat.

I do think he`ll have a game where he catches people off guard though

trent dilfer won a SB with the ravens and they didn't bring him back the next year. whether we win a SB or not, it's not a foregone conclusion that alex will definitely be back. the way his contract is structured the team can cut him after this season and it won't count against the cap at all. at the end of the day, who knows what's gonna happen? let's all just enjoy the show.

all i know is that we're in a golden age of 49er football again and i'm loving every moment of it :ahh:

Yeah i`m in the 49ers camp, no loyalty to certain players honestly. I do got a lot of love for Alex, but if it does become apparent that he isn't the better player and holds us back, then he should go.

That being said I still think he is clearly the better player and we can win it all with him

Yea, I like Alex Smith but Kaep is an intriguing prospect and the more I think about it the more ok I'm with the idea of him being a starter next year. Could you imagine a raw 6'5 guy that ran a 4.4-4.5, with his rocket arm, training under Rathman and Harbaugh. :ahh:

Im not calling you out, but Im trying to understand your criteria.
I decided to do it here cuz I know u check the thread.

fitz's td/int ratio is pretty much the same as cutler's, especially if you take fitz's time as full-time starting qb.

you still haven't explained HOW those QBs have played well. besides the fact that you watched them, I got that. quantify your argument.

tannehill looked decent for a rookie and kolb has played alright at best but no matter how many yards they gained they both threw key picks that led to game being changed completely. kolb has thrown a pick in the ENDZONE on 2nd and 2 when a score would put the cards up two possessions.

I just find it weird you bring up tds and yards when talking cutler or kolb but then dont bring it up when talking about fitz...

Im not calling you out, I just point out inconsistencies. the only thing that separates fitz from those qbs is his arm. and even then, kolb has similar arm.

the fact is I havent see you quantify the reason WHY you think these qbs are better, besides their arms.

Kolb has played pretty well this year. He has 2 come from behind victories. Yes, he threw a pick in the endzone that was a GREAT play by the DB. Ill advised throw. but the toss was a rope 5 feet out of bounds and the DB still made a great catch.

Tannehill to me had a good game, but he made a couple mistakes. A mistake does not erase the entire game. It's not about yardage necessarily it's about a rookie QB looking like he had command of the offense and making big plays.

Cutler is better...whether you want to look at stats or just watch the games. I'm not sure what else to tell you. Also. When have I ever used TDs and INT's to prop up Cutler or Kolb? I might have included the stats along with other stats to illustrate how well they were playing. But when do I ever use stats as the sole indicator that a QB is good. I mean, I still rag on Alex even though he had good stats. Did the same with Cassell, Vick, etc.

I watch enough buffalo games. Fitz is a gunslinger with no arm. He tries to force balls but has a weak ass arm and gets picked. Cutler does the same exact thing but he has an arm and does connect on those tight throws. Cutler had a 2:1 TD to INT ratio playing under Martz...Fitz has never come close to that.

They're both in the same mold I guess...I just think Cutler is better. I don't get why this is such a hot topic.

It's annoying when you say I rely on stats when I'm far more objective and knowledgeable than that.

I think the only way we win a SB is if the D, running game and special teams plays top notch. IMO, Alex will never hoist the Lombardi trophy.

Yes. I've always liked Mario and was happy when we got him. He can stretch the field too, just need to get him the ball. Our WR group is pretty damn good.

That's what's so frustrating with seeing Alex under center. We'd be so frigging scary if we had top 10 Qb play. Look at Houston with Schaub...They are fukking scary.

I'm willing to deal with the growing pains. Kaep can do what Alex does and then some IMO. But as long as we're winning, it makes no sense pulling Alex...

fair enough, I wasnt trying to call u out again, just thought its interesting :manny: so I asked a question. nothing personal breh.

I dont even know if schaub is top 10 QB but yea...texans are just stacked tho, their pair of RBs is better they have andre, best oline in the league one of best secondaries. jj watt....:ahh:

the deep ball accuracy is all I ask from alex now and its a huge deficiency at this point. we are essentially crippled when even the worst safeties can cheat towards the LoS. when teams arent giving us the middle and are stingy against the run...our o stutters. I thought itd be easier for alex to acquire the deep ball skill and stay the way he was...I guess not, so Im all for giving kaep more chances.

I think Schaub may be the most underrated QB in the league, so far in 2012 dude is def top 10, arguably top 5. I feel he is Alex Smith maxed out. A smart QB that can take over a game should his number get called. He's a big reason the Texans are the most balanced team in the L.

It's all gravy. I respect your opinion, breh...maybe that's why I got a lil :damn:

I think Schaub is hovering around the 10 spot...sometimes he's better, sometimes he's worse. But if we could get that schaubesque play from Alex, we'd be unstoppable.

Alex's deep ball is :comeon:. I don't know if it's fear or if he just simply stinks. This dude stays with the happy feet anytime he has to throw the ball over 15 yards in the air (unless it's to VD). I don't know if it's fixable.

PS: You watching Cutler ballin out tonight? :mjpls:
