yea but triple coverage? he would of been better off tucking the ball and running with it

that play is fine only in 3rd and long situations imo, cuz its like a punt.
theres zero excuse for any QB to throw into triple coverage to any receiver

it could be Dan Marino or Montana or Peyton throwing it up to prime Rice/Moss/TO and it still would be a bad decision.

Dude had one shot in the game to make a play and he took a risk. If it was picked in the endzone, it wouldn't be that terrible. Picks to me aren't the end of the world, especially against a team who can't move the ball.

picks are turnovers, and turnover differential wins games :manny:

dont really understand the one shot part....again I dont see any reason to throw it up into triple coverage. its a numbers game, throws into triple coverage are very unlikely to be catches in any circumstances.

Again, it was the equivalent of a 50 yard punt. Turnovers are not good, but sometimes they are not that damaging.

He had one shot meaning he basically had that 1 passing play so I understand why he took a shot.

In addition, when you have guys like CJ and Randy, throwing it up into triple coverage isn't the worst thing in the world. I'd advise against it, but I've seen Randy and CJ make those grabs. Hell, Stafford has made a living throwing it into triple coverage to CJ.

well, punting is only good on 4th down and maybe 3rd and long....

either way, hypothetical picks could be bad for us in close games. still, I can see kaep being slowly incorporated into this offense.

also jlova explain to me why you keep shytting on fitzpatrick and big up cutler...when their numbers are pretty much the same over the last few years. both of them are "asked to win" games like you would say.

besides the armstrength, theyre pretty much the same QBs. fitz has a better oline, but cutler had a good line in denver :manny:

both are definition of "chuck the ball downfield a lot and pray".

He actually completed 57% of his passes. That comp% drops when he actually attempts lower percentage throws like every other QB in the league.

Alex is fine as long as we're winning. If we are down by more than a TD and he has to carry the team, we will lose, period.

Running game was and is on point. We need to focus on the run, cuz when we run the ball a lot, we are beastly.

OLine is pretty decent. They don't get enough credit. Staley is shyt, though.

I don't think the Kaep throw was that bad. It was in the endzone, and it gave Moss a chance to make a play. He almost came down with it. I understand the whole "no picks" thing. But sometimes you have to make that tough throw and give your dude a chance to make a play. Hell, we saw that play with Troy Smith even.

Kaep will either be starting next year or not in SF's plans.

I think Staley is solid, it's just the right side of our line has improved by leaps and bounds. Boone has emerged as a great guard and Anthony Davis has improved a lot as well. Furthermore when we line up in multiple TE sets they are on the right side of the line. Staley usually has to block the teams best pass rushers by himself and he's just not going to win every time. He wasn't as good as he was last year though I will say that, but our O-Line is all around better so, his mistakes stand out more.

I agree with you on the Kaep throw from a technical stand point, it was a beautiful deep ball and it was definitely catchable, but a QB that recklessly throws into deep coverage scares me, a lot. I also also disagree about him having to start by next year, theres little pressure on us to play him like that should it come to that, though he does have the skillset, but I like him to get more snaps, when we have the luxury, just to get him out there and I really like what he adds to our offense. I think two years is reasonable, depending on how we ultimately do this season.

shyt on Fitz? All I do is shyt on Reincar for calling him a top 5 QB. Neither Fitz nor Cutler are top 5 or close to elite.

And no, Cutler is better. Anyone can see that.

Eh. I don't even think Staley was good last year. The best he's ever been IMO is serviceable. I'm just not high on him. Boone has looked great and AD has always had the talent. I'm pleased with the line play.

Again, throwing into triple coverage is not advisable, but the play was called and Kaep had just that one pass play, so he took more of a risk. I'm pretty sure if he was starting, he wouldn't be tossing it up into triple coverage regularly. I don't understand the criticism. It's no big deal.

I just don't see how he can sit for a 3rd year behind a QB who is simply "meh". If Alex steps up and shows he can finally be the QB we expect of him, then I don't think Kaep will play and will probably be traded as I'm sure we'll get some calls.

If Alex is the same guy next year, why should Kaep sit?

no dont give me that crap "anyone can see that"
explain, quantify it. stats tell theyre about the same.

cutler has the better armstrength but otherwise I dont see anything that tells me cutler has been better over their careers as starters. cutler has potential if he cuts down on dumb decisions but if fitz cuts down on them while maintaining his TD rate he also has potential

youre the one who brings yards and TDs to quantify a QBs performance (like gushing over tannenhills or kolbs performances)....so why not fitz ?

Watching Alex Smith personally, I was so not impressed
he sucked today, constantly overthrowing open receivers deep. well, we already knew that he has accuracy issues past 20 yards

the burning question is, did u and emp scrap ?
